The Good
This hotel was quite well liked overall and recently updated with nice-looking glass showers and ultra modern decor.
The location was considered prime. It was close to groceries, a liquor store as well as the town centre with many restaurants and shops in walking distance.
Guests typically liked the rooms which they found to be well cleaned and comfortable. Some were pleased with the updates made as well and the modern showers.
The staff were often described as friendly and helpful, although there was the occasional complaint about the staff having their own conversations and not being attentive.
Free underground parking was appreciated by several guest reviewers although there was some mention of parking being tight.
The Bad
Guests who complained were often quite disappointed.
The most common complaint came from guests who suffered in a room that was too hot. It seems that there was no way to control the in-room temperature whether it was cool or very warm outside. Guests were given fans and instructed to open the windows, but this didn't seem to satisfy.
Noise could be heard when the windows were open from people walking along the street and traffic. Interior noise was an issue for some and came from the lobby lounge and neighbouring rooms.
It seems that all rooms are not created equal at this hotel. One guest was assigned a room that required climbing a flight of stairs, another complained of a view of concrete walls, and yet another said his room was unbearably hot when it was 2 degrees Celcius outside and the only window was one on the floor that faced a dark enclosure. He felt this should not have been a room to rent out at the prices charged. Some found the modern decor uninspiring and not attractive.
Several guests complained that the Wi-Fi was slow and some had difficulty getting it to work at all, although this was not unanimous.
The restaurant and lounge received mixed reviews. Although some guests enjoyed the food and service, a few guests felt it was just pub food and lacked atmosphere.
Guests who were not impressed with the hotel overall, found the prices expensive, especially during high season.
