Tips For Staying Near Toronto General Hospital

Located in downtown Toronto's Discovery District, and part of the University Health Network, is Toronto General Hospital (TGH). Toronto General specializes in cardiac care, organ transplants, surgery and critical care.

The Toronto General published an online magazine covering all hospital information for potential and future patients and their families.
Parking is available across from the hospital and accessed from Elizabeth Street. The rates fluctuate, but a parking attendant can be reached at 416-595-7136 for current information. Pick-up and drop-off is also available in the U-shaped drive at the Elizabeth Street entrance.
On site is a Starbucks and Tim Hortons coffee shop, as well as a food court with a wide variety of options, including Druxy's, Booster Juice, Hero Burger, Lettieri, Lotus Leaf, Mega Wraps, Soup It Up, Subway, Sushi by Bento Nouveau and Bagel Stop.

If none of those options sounds right for you, nearby Dundas Street is packed with a number of fast-food and finer dining options, and is just a 7-minute walk away.
Other Tips
The hospital has enabled Wi-Fi, but guests are asked to not use their phones in areas where direct patient care is being undertaken, due to radio frequencies interfering with machines. The food court and lobbies are acceptable places to use your cell phone.

For outpatient guests undergoing cancer treatment, the Princess Margaret Lodge has hotel-style rooms available for $70 a week, and many area hotels will offer a discount with a letter from a TGH healthcare professional. Please contact a hotel that you're interested in directly, to ask about these rates.

You should also be aware that sometimes the discounted rates offered by the hotels can actually be higher than the rate available online, so it is advisable to compare the room rates on the days of your intended stay, although be careful about booking a cheaper rate that you cannot cancel.
On the 4th floor of Toronto General Hospital is an open-air conservatory for guests and patients to enjoy during their stay.
