Tips For Staying Near Rideau Carleton Raceway
Location
Situated just outside of Nepean in Ottawa, the Rideau Carleton Raceway is home to standard-bred, harness horse-racing and slots.
Getting Around: Driving
Highway 417, the Trans-Canada Highway, is a 15-minute drive from the raceway and downtown Ottawa is an approximate 26-minute drive away. The Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) is an 11-minute drive away.
Getting Around: Free Shuttle
There is a free shuttle service, courtesy of OLG Slots. From 8:30 am to 12:30 am, it runs every hour, on the half hour from the Greenboro Transit Station to the raceway. From 9 am until 1 am, it leaves the raceway to return to the station every hour on the hour. All guests must be over 19 to ride the shuttle.
Getting Around: Public Transit
Considering the free shuttle from the Greenboro Transit Station, guests can easily take public transit from their hotel to the raceway by riding to the station and switching to the shuttle. Transit is run by OC Transit.
Fares are $3.40 per adult, per ride and daily unlimited-use passes can be purchased for $7.95. Tickets can also be purchased for a reduced fare and are $1.50 each. Regular fare requires two tickets.
Parking
Parking is available free of charge at the raceway.
Dining
The dining room seperates the action on the track with giant windows, allowing for the perfect view of the finish line while enjoying your meal. Guests to the dining room must be strictly over 19 years of age. For guests aged 19 to 25, a second piece of ID with a signature is required. The only exceptions to this rule occur on Sunday from 11 am to 10 pm, and Thursday evening from 5 pm to 10 pm.
There is also a sports bar and outdoor patio, as well as more casual fare at the grandstand.
Entertainment
Watching the horse races and betting is the biggest draw for guests to the Rideau Carleton Raceway. For beginners, they provide guides on how to bet as well as race schedules on their website.
