The Coast Bastion Inn has beautiful harbour views, serves up great food in their on-site restaurant, is right downtown and close to shops, restaurants and the seawall. It's only a 15-minute drive to the airport.

Many have said this is the best Best Western they have stayed at. Perceived to provide good value along with a good free breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi, it's also an 11-minute walk to boutique shopping, restaurants and other attractions in Chemainus. It's a little farther to downtown Nanaimo at 30 minutes and 22 minutes to the airport, but has a large pool, hot tub and fitness area on site.

Beautiful lakefront views and excellent breakfast caught our attention for this hotel. No on-site restaurant or pool but free Wi-Fi, breakfast and parking are offered. It's close to restaurants and shopping (6-minute walk). It's 30 minutes to the airport and 15 minutes to downtown Nanaimo.

Tips For Staying Near Nanaimo Airport
Location
Nanaimo Airport (YCD) is located approximately 15 km southwest, or a 15- to 20-minute drive or taxi ride, from the centre of Nanaimo. The Trans-Canada Highway is a 2-minute drive away.
Parking
There is both short-term and long-term parking available at the airport. Rates for short-term parking are $1 per hour. Long-term parking costs $8 per day for the first 7 days and rates for longer stays can be found on the airport's website.
For short-term parking, including passenger pick-up and drop-off, there are several designated spaces with a coin-operated meter to pay for parking. For long-term parking, tickets may be purchased at a ticket dispenser located in the lot in front of the main terminal and tickets need to be placed on the dashboard of your vehicle and be visible.
Getting Around: Driving
There are a few car rental companies present at the airport, including Budget, Hertz and National. Rates for car rentals will vary, however, an estimate for price is approximately $48 to $79 per day, depending on the type of vehicle rented.

Getting Around: Public Transit
There is a public transit system in Nanaimo, however, the closest bus stop to the airport is an approximate 15-minute taxi ride away. For guests without a vehicle, it may be quicker and straightforward to take a taxi right to your hotel.
