Despite its name Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is not actually located in Halifax, but roughly 30 minutes north, in Enfield. Tips For Staying Near Halifax Airport
Halifax Stanfield International Airport is undergoing extensive renovations and has been since 1998. Expansions to the terminal building and the car park are some of the major enhancements planned for the airport.
A pre-clearance area, which allows travellers with U.S. departures to go through customs, check-ins and other screening processes in less time than the average traveller, is one of the significant additions completed in the renovation process.
With no expected date of completion, travellers can expect delays when passing though areas under construction, so plan additional time to handle any potential construction disturbances.
Location
Aerotech Business Park, which caters to aviation companies, is located directly adjacent to the airport.
The airport is located in Enfield, about 30 to 45 minutes from downtown Halifax, while Dartmouth is roughly a 25-minute drive south of the airport.
Getting Around: Public Transit
A taxi ride to downtown Halifax from the airport will cost just over $60, one way.
Metro Transit operates its MetroX service from downtown to the airport. Route 320 operates every 30 minutes during peak morning (6 am to 9 am) and afternoon (3 pm to 6 pm) hours. The regular schedule departs every 60 minutes. The cost of the ride is $3.25 each way.
