Tips For Staying Near Dalhousie University
Location
Situated between the south end and downtown neighbourhoods of Halifax, Dalhousie University is split into four campuses at one location, with the agricultural campus located in Truro, Nova Scotia, and features 12 faculties of study.
Getting Around
Interactive maps are available online to help visitors orient themselves and distinguish between campuses, and an online viewbook has been compiled with everything you could need to know about Dalhousie.
Prospective students and their parents can book a campus tour by emailing university staff. More information on tours can be found on their website.
The school is serviced by a large number of buses operated by Metro Transit. Single-ride adult fares are $2.50. More route and fare information is available on the Halifax Regional Municipality website.
Downtown Halifax is a 7-minute drive from the school and the Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is a 30-minute drive away.
Parking
There are a number of parking lots available. Details on visitors' parking (non-reserved spots) locations can be found by viewing the campus map. Rates are $14.08 for a one-day pass and can be purchased at the Security Services office, or by depositing coins into meters.
Entertainment
On top of sports events, and the DalPlex Gym, Dalhousie University offers Dal After Dark activities every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. These social nights are free or low cost and offer a chance for students to interact doing different events every week.
