Popular Saint Catharines budget hotel an easy drive to Niagara Falls with free parking
The Capri Inn St Catharines is a hidden gem. It's rated #1 out of 6 hotels in St Catharines and has a stellar rating of 8.9/10 along with a 92% recommendation rate. This means that overall guest satisfaction is very high. Surprisingly, it also had one of the lowest room rates on the day we compared the hotels in the vicinity.

Although it doesn't look especially promising from the exterior, once you walk in, you find out that you made a very good choice indeed. The rooms are newly renovated (as of 2013) according to guests, as well as spacious and well appointed. All rooms come with large flat screen TVs, comfortable beds, plenty of fluffy towels in spotlessly clean bathrooms, safety deposit boxes, mini-fridges and microwaves. Additionally guests said the rooms were quiet and some had pretty views of the Martindale pond. Freebies include Wi-Fi, parking and morning muffins and juice.

It sounds like a friendly place with very accommodating and well-liked staff/owners who go above and beyond to help out guests.

Tips For Staying Near Brock University

As part of a UNESCO biosphere reserve, Brock University is surrounded by parkland on the Niagara Escarpment in St. Catharines, Ontario. Construction is continuous, both on and around campus as well as in downtown St. Catharines.
Getting Around
While the campus itself isn't as large as many universities (it takes 15 minutes to walk from one side to the other), familiarizing oneself with everything beforehand is always a good idea. To that end, an interactive map is available listing everything from classrooms to water refill stations.

Campus tours are available for prospective students and their parents, on top of regular open houses. For more information, or to book a tour, visit their website.
Getting Around: Driving
Downtown St. Catharines is an 11-minute drive from the school, while Niagara Falls and the United States border are both a 15-minute drive away.

The John C. Munro International Airport (YHM) in Hamilton is a 45-minute drive from the school.

Visitors may want to note that public transit times from the below-mentioned hotels to the school are at least double the driving times. If you don't plan to have access to a personal vehicle, a taxi might be more efficient.
A number of parking lots are available for staff, students and visitors. Rates vary depending on the lot, but average at $2.50 an hour, with a maximum of $7 per day.

For more information on rates and permits, visit their website.
Getting Around: Public Transit
A large number of public transit buses are available from all around St. Catharines to Brock University. Students can pick up a U-Pass sticker for their Brock Student I.D. cards that allows them to ride St. Catharines Transit, Niagara Transit and Welland Transit for free.

A single-ride fare on St. Catharines Transit is $2.75, but visitors can purchase a one-day, all-day family pass for $7, valid on the weekends.

For a full list of routes and maps, visit the St. Catharines Transit Commission website.
There are a couple cafeterias on campus, as well as two more in residence halls, not to mention three Tim Hortons and a cafe. Students living in the traditional residence buildings (not the townhouses) will receive a meal card as part of their registration price. For more information and a weekly menu, visit the dining services website.
A number of seminars, workshops, socials and sports events are organized throughout the year on campus. Ranging from theatre performances, to trivia night to scotch tastings, there are a variety of things planned. For a full events listing, visit the school website.
