Tips For Staying In Scarborough
Accessible by several means of transportation and considered the greenest part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Scarborough has long been a popular destination for new Toronto residents. With its rivers, cliffs, parks and proximity to Lake Ontario, Scarborough offers unique natural settings while still allowing travellers to easily access Toronto's downtown area. If you're seeking accommodations in Scarborough, you'll find a selection of good value hotels to help you make the most of your stay.
Natural Beauty
Bordered to the south by Lake Ontario and by the Rouge River to the east, Scarborough has several outdoor points of interest for travellers to enjoy. The Scarborough Bluffs, which are located along the shores of Lake Ontario, rise 300 feet above the water and are accessible through Bluffs Park. The park provides hiking trails, a marina, picnic areas and other activities, and is within a 17-minute drive of all Scarborough hotels.
Kid-Friendly
Toronto's largest park, Rouge Park, is also accessible via Scarborough and showcases the Rouge River, several hiking trails, a beach, meadows, wetlands and more. The Toronto Zoo, which is open year-round and houses over 5,000 animals, and the Ontario Science Centre, which offers several children's activities and exhibits, are two more fun area attractions that kids will love.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto East offers an indoor pool with a waterslide (a built-in attraction for the kids), free Wi-Fi and the convenience of an on-site restaurant. It's only an 11-minute drive from both the zoo and the Ontario Science Centre, and about 13 minutes by car from Rouge Park -- so the kids won't be asking if you're there yet! Plus, its location just off the 401 Highway makes the drive easy.
I Get Around
One of the best things about Scarborough is how accessible it is. Highway 401 makes travelling to and from Scarborough by car a simple task, especially if you're looking to visit North York or the Toronto Zoo. Running along the southern stretch of Scarborough is Kingston Road, which becomes Highway 2 if you travel east, or the Gardiner Expressway if you travel west, through south central Toronto. It's especially convenient if you're going to visit waterfront attractions or Toronto's downtown core.
Those travelling without a car (or those who want to avoid additional parking costs by leaving their car at the hotel) will find they have several convenient ways of getting around. Scarborough GO Train (an inter-regional above-ground train service) is located within an 18-minute drive of all Scarborough hotels.

In addition to the Delta Toronto East, Holiday Inn Express Toronto East offers easy access to the 401, as it's located about a 2-minute drive from the nearest on-ramp. This hotel is another CHG Editor's Pick for its great value, and it offers low room rates, free parking, free Wi-Fi and a free breakfast. Plus, it's only a 6-minute drive from shopping and public transit access at Scarborough Town Centre.

Scarborough has three subway stops as well as its own separate line called the Scarborough RT, which shoppers will be happy to know is adjacent to Scarborough Town Centre, one of Toronto's main shopping malls. Plus, if you ride the line west, you can connect to Toronto's subway line (at Kennedy Station). This subway line will take you anywhere you need to go in the downtown core, including right into the Toronto Eaton Centre, Toronto's largest mall, which is about a 45-minute trip from Scarborough Town Centre. Getting from A to B is certainly an easy task when staying in Scarborough, no matter how you're travelling!
