The Bad
There were several common complaints found for this hotel, among the recent reviews sourced for this editorial.

Many reviewers thought that the room rates were expensive and that the hotel did not offer good value for the money they spent.

The rooms were often described as dated and in need of upgrades. Many guests noted that the rooms needed new paint, carpeting, furnishings and bathroom fixtures. While several guests described their rooms as clean, as mentioned above, a couple of reviewers said that their rooms did not meet their cleanliness expectations. However, as noted above, the hotel is undergoing renovations in 2014, which include updates to the guest rooms. The renovations may address some of the concerns expressed by guests.

Although several guests praised staff members, a few guests found the front desk agents unhelpful and unresponsive to their concerns and complaints.

As mentioned above, a couple of guests said that there was poor selection and food at the free breakfast, although many reviewers spoke favourably about it.

"Very Satisfactory Experience"

"Our room was clean and well appointed. The temperature was easily adjusted ( often an issue in hotel rooms). The breakfast was a nice added feature. Over all we were very happy with our stay."

"I would definitely recommend this hotel."

"The room was clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. We used the free internet but didn't have time to make use of the free dvds. The free breakfast was terrific; there was a huge variety of selections to choose from. The staff were very friendly and helpful."

"I like the continental breakfast. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms and beds are very comfy. Best of all I don't hear alot of noise in the rest of the building like I do staying at other hotels therefore I do get a good nights sleep."

"All of our business was in the north end of town and this hotel suited us perfectly. There was a bit of a misunderstanding about the type of accommodation that we book but this was quickly rectified by a visit to the reception desk."

"a real country inn"

"A good place to stay when you have company coming with the extra room in a suite. very homey and comfortable."

"Less than expected"

"First the website shows a brand new hotel. In real life it has aged poorly and the verdant grasslands around the hotel is all industrial area! The foyer has lost its glistenening floor and looks extremely worn out. The whole lobby area is crowded by the front desk, its low ceiling, breakfast area and sitting area. Secondly the rates in Saskatoon are high and this hotel is in the middle of the road in value. There were no real detractions, the rooms were clean, but no superlatives either. It is in need of an upgrade-sooner rather than later."

"Awesome stay, would like to stay longer next time."

"I found the bed a little hard, but I like a really soft bed, and it was a bit expensive for one person paying the bill. The staff were excellent, the breakfast was really great, the freebies were awesome ie: fruit, cookies, coffe, hot chocolate and movies. I wish I could have afforded another night!!"

"Overnight Travelling hotel is ok, otherwise look around."

"Overbooked hotel so could not get king suite room as reserved. Lucky for us, only 2 of the 4 people travelled so we did complain and got offered a room with two queens at a reduced rate after about 45 minutes. Hotel is clean and rooms are okay but it is not a 4 or 5 star hotel; there are no exercise amenities and it is just a hotel for staying overnight. For that, the hotel is good."

"Nice Comfortable Stay, would recommend to everyone I know"

"Service was very good, hotel was nicer than expected, almost felt like you were at home with the entrance (fire place, cozy kitchen area, and friendly staff to greet you). Bed, bedding, and pillows very comfortable. One thing that was annoying was the cleaning lady, we were staying 2 nights and we didn't need any services the first morning. We had the do not disturb sign up, and she came in anyways. I told her we were good, but I don't think she understood english? I said we didn't need anything, and she ignored me. Then after that someone else walked ito our room, they only knocked once, then asked if we needed anything? That was the only annoyance. If the do not disturb sign is up, stay out. Thanks! We understand and appreciate the customer service, but if we say we are ok, we are ok. Breakfast and newspaper every morning was nice too! They have waffels!! YUM!"

"I believe we stayed in room#227. The border wallpaper had been taken off and not replaced so made the room look sorta "ugly". I would recommend finishing a room before renting it out again."

"Even though our stay was booked on the web and was a special (low) rate, the three of us were accorded full attention, which included the continental breakfast, not originally included in the package. The staff are very courteous, refreshing to be treated well after a long, hard journey."

"I was in Saskatoon for a UMAAS conference. I was too late to book at the Travelodge and chose your motel because it was close. I prepaid and therefore got a good rate on a "suite". I could not have been more pleased. It was huge and had more comfort than I needed. I went down to the desk and said " I am only ONE person, I do not need all the space" and they said to me "to just relax and enjoy it" and that I did. I told everyone at the conference about my great room and told them if they were smart, they would book at your hotel for the next conference. You do not have a restaurant, but there was one next door, so that was not a problem. I can not wait for 2 years from now when the convention is in Saskatoon once again."

"Even thought the bed was very comfortable, every hotel seems to purchase their heating/cooling systems from the same supplier. They are ALL noisy! I have trouble sleeping when it is running. Unfortunately, I couldn't turn this one off. Very nice hotel though."
