The Good
The compliments greatly outweighed the complaints and many guests were happy with their stay and would return. Guests favoured the rooms, the location, the staff and the restaurant.

Many guests were impressed with the rooms and described them as clean, spacious and well appointed. Several guests thought the waterfront views were beautiful while others thought the rooms were well maintained.

The location was a big draw for many guests. They liked the hotel's proximity to shopping, Highway 40 and felt the surrounding area was very scenic.

The staff received compliments from several reviewers and were described as personable and attentive.

Several reviewers thought the on-site restaurant had a good menu and nice views. However, there are opposing opinions about the restaurant (see below for more details).

Additionally, several guests felt the hotel grounds were well maintained and praised the decor.

The Bad
As mentioned above, the positive feedback outweighed the negative feedback but guests had complaints about the noise, the restaurant prices and the breakfast menu.

Some guests were disturbed by noise from the nearby highway.

While most of the comments regarding the restaurant were complimentary, some guests thought the food was overpriced and the service was mediocre. Additionally, a couple guests felt the breakfast left a lot to be desired.

"Bellman very couteous. Called elevator, took luggage to room while I checked in ( but didn't linger to elicit a tip). Location is a bit hard to get to. Very quiet. Was on a business trip. Wish I had more time to enjoy it. Old world charm. Felt like I was in Europe. Rooms are large. Will make a point to stay again."

"Yes i did not receive a complementary newspaper that ought to have been dropped at my door. However i did see the flat t.v in the open space quite catchy. Anyway to be frank. I have been in better hotels but the location of chateau vandreuil is romantic."

Alison from Boston, MA US rated Chateau Vaudreuil 5 out of 10 on September 18, 2005 Verified Guest Hotel Review

"I found the hotel itself and the grounds quite nice but the customer service was lacking; we did not find most of the staff very friendly with a few exceptions. We also discovered that we apparently double tipped all the wait staff at the restaurants, because at check-out time, we found that tips had already been included in our bill, which we didn't find clearly indicated by the waiter or on the menu. There was a line for tips on the credit card receipt so I filled it out as I would at any other restaurant. It would be helpful for the hotel to clearly explain these things at check-in if they're going to be handled like this. We are from the U.S. and had just come from a hotel in Old Montreal where the staff were exceptional, so it was all the more surprising to us to come to a place where we often felt either ignored by the staff or treated rudely by them - for example, when we checked in, there were four employees standing in front of the hotel - not one offered to help us with our luggage. When we checked in, we were handed the room key card closed and the front desk person didn't tell us our room # or anything. Nor did they explain any of the amenities at the hotel - i.e. the pool is located here, etc. When we went to the restaurant after 9 pm, we almost thought we wouldn't be able to get a table, since the first thing we were told were that the reservations ended at 9 pm. I would actually say that the service at the hotel was among the poorest I have experienced, which was surprising, since I understand the hotel hosts a number of events there each year."

Dario from Geneva, CH rated Chateau Vaudreuil 9 out of 10 on April 08, 2005 Verified Guest Hotel Review

"As you can see from the above, my stay has been a very short one: only one day ! So I had no chance to really value the amenities and the other information asked. The feeling was anyway very positive, and certainly I'll try to come back with more time to spend around. One missing info; I was not able to know if there is a fast train from the airport to down town Montreal, to allow planning a vist. I suggest to include these info in the brochure of the area (Quebec) and also in that of the Hotel; much better if tese are also available on the web site. Thanks, Dario Malagodi"

Barry from Burlington, ON CA rated Chateau Vaudreuil 8 out of 10 on January 26, 2005 Verified Guest Hotel Review

"there was a charge of $11.95/day for Hi-speed internet- most hotels include this in room cost now- wasn't aware of the cost until check-out. Heating system erratic and noisy- although it was very cold outside -25 C. Restaurant food was good and well priced for quality (italian) but wine prices were excessive."
