The GoodThe majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive with much praise for the hotel's staff, rooms and location.
Numerous guests offered compliments to the hotel's staff and characterized them as friendly, bilingual and helpful in offering directions, suggestions and reservations.
The hotel's rooms were praised by many lodgers. They were described as clean, bright, nicely decorated and modern, with comfortable beds and linens, and strong Wi-Fi signals. It should be noted however, that some guests reported their rooms as smaller than the hotel website portrayed, particularly ones located at the front of the hotel, because the ceilings are slanted.
Several reviewers were pleased with the hotel's location and found it to be close to restaurants, shopping, museums and the VIA Rail station. One guest mentioned the hotel was, "centrally located to all the fun Old Quebec offers", while another reviewer stated, "Great location in the old city-we walked everywhere from there".
The Bad
While the majority of the reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a couple of complaints about the parking and noise transfer.
Some guests complained about the hotel's parking. They reported it was a block away, which they found inconvenient, and also found the price to be expensive.
A few guests mentioned noise disturbances during their stay. They reported being able to hear loud guests in adjacent rooms, as well as noise from the street on weekends and from the restaurant next door.
TripAdvisor.com guest reviews ranked the hotel #5 of 95 Quebec City hotels from 490 reviews.
Booking.com guest reviews rated the hotel 9.2 out of 10 from 62 reviews.

"My daughter and I stayed for 5 nights, we loved the hotel, the staff was friendly, our favorite part was the mini picnic basket with fresh pastries and juice hanging on our door every morning."

"The hotel restaurant is excellent - we had a really good meal there in a very relaxed, friendly environment. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast delivered to the room in a picnic basket was a great touch - perfect for anyone who's no good in the morning until they've been fed and watered. Location is perfect - in the middle of everything. would defintely recommend this to quebec's visitors."

"Excellent Restaurants. Loved the location right in the middle of Old Quebec. They weren't open for breakfast in the bistro next door at all dutring my stay(Sept. 27 thru Oct. 1). That was a bit disappointing. Would definitely stay there again. Hal - Houston, Tx."

"This hotel was awesome - it was right in the heart of vieux quebec and I would stay there again and recommend it to everyone. You can walk to all of the historic attractions, tourist shops, restaurants, gorgeous views and take advantage of all the street festival events very easily from this hotel. We didn't use our car for our stay here - we walked everywhere and it was awesome!! Also excellent is the restaurant attached to the hotel called Cote des Freres which served awesome breakfasts, dinner and lunches."

"L'hotel du Vieux Quebec is a fabulous place to stay and the most economical of all we looked at online. It is right in the middle of the old town, close to the railway station, and minutes away from sightseeing and restaurants. The room was very comfortable for relaxing in after full days of walking. The desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel!"

"The staff were courteous and friendly.
I had requested on the freehotelsearch form that we have a room on the main or send floor as one elderly person was with me and had difficulty with stairs. The hotel had given us a room on the 4th floor (no elevator), so when I mentioned it they gave us an upgraded room on the 4th floor where there was an elevator. However, as they gave us the upgraded room, they wouldn't give the CAA discount.
The fridge didn't work and wasn't repaired while we were there.
Parking was 3 blocks away - as it is the old part of Quebec City, there isn't much parking at the old hotels.
I would, however, go there again."

"Room had a sink in it (instead of in the bathroom) and was small, but really nice, clean, cheap and in a great location. All you can eat mussels in the restaurant downstairs."
