This hotel was well liked by its guests, many of whom provided a perfect score in the reviews online.
This hotel met guests needs well and provided an excellent location. Guests could walk to Old Quebec attractions, nearby restaurants and the train station, although some opted for bus or cab ($7) to Old Quebec due to the steep walk.
Guests especially liked the cleanliness of this hotel, along with caring, informed and helpful staff. Many planned to return and use this as their go-to hotel in Quebec City, as they considered it to provide good value and a comfortable stay.
Guests often spoke of the rooms in the reviews, which they found to be spacious, nicely laid out and invariably clean. Sleep quality scored high with many enjoying a restful sleep.
Breakfast was a basic continental for free, or guests could use a $7 voucher to get a hot breakfast. One guest expressed his pleasure at getting bacon and eggs for $2 during his stay, after applying the voucher. Guests who dined at the restaurant were typically very pleased as well.
The hotel was not able to make the perfect grade with all their guests. Although renovated, the hotel was in an older building and guests did find some things to be awkward at times.
Some guests mentioned that it was awkward to access the hotel's front door when driving up.
Parking was situated across a busy street from the hotel in a parking garage, so guests did not have direct access to the hotel from the parking area. Besides this, the staff had to open the garage door from the hotel, in order for guests to access it. Some were disappointed to have to payan extra $16 for parking.
Some guests found the walk to Old Quebec a little steep and long, and some were disappointed in the free continental breakfast, finding it too basic. Occasionally guests found the elevator slow and the gym small.
Complaints that surfaced about the rooms included: poor views of neighbouring building or alleyway, no ability to control the in-room temperature, no functioning air conditioning in the hot summer, and bathroom too dark to put make-up on.
