"Black hallways forebode a mediocre hotel experience."
"The hotel has a unique (odd) room configuration (bed in the middle of the room) and as a result no proper place to sit with a friend or family member over a cup of coffee. This last is impossible anyway since there is no coffee maker in the room. For that one need get dressed and stand in line in the lobby awaiting your turn to fight with an overly large, usually faulty, coffee maker. On two of four days we took the long trip down to the machine it was out of service altogether. With regard to the shower - again a unique configuration (no tub, no door) water temp was great but drainage was slow and as a result minor flooding ensued. From the look of the ceiling damage one would suspect our upstairs neighbors had had a similar experience on a previous occasion. The keycard lock on our door had issues with the cards and so twice they needed to be re keyed by an un-apologetic front desk staff. Our room faced west and our view was highlighted by a floor to ceiling wall to wall window that allowed us to see in and the population to look in. The problem with this was the fact that our black out curtain had no sheer -meaning that the curtain needed to be either fully open or fully closed as no privacy was otherwise possible. That pitch black view of things continued into the halls as these quirky owners chose pitch black as the colour of choice for the wallpaper! As an emergency service provider I would advise everyone to steer clear of the Pur. The stairwell exit is unsafe as there is poor signage, no single set of exit stairs (on the third floor one has to leave the stairwell, follow a hallway and then face a mag-locked door -unable to continue). Add the black hallways and you have a recipe for disaster. I wouldn't count on the fire alarm releasing door locks as the staff can't fix a coffee maker. Speaking of staff the black clad doormen with enough metal in their faces to offer up replacement parts for that coffee maker look more like bar room bouncers -and were about as friendly. First trip for us to QC. Last trip to the Pur."

"An awsome hotel in an awsome city."
"The Pur is pure simple elegance. My husband and I were looking for a place with comfort and a touch of luxury for under $200 a night and we feel that we recieved just that. Comfortable bed, modern furniture and washroom. We loved the black and white colour sceme and the beautiful city view. The most plesurable experience at this hotel was the attentiveness of the staff. They never missed greeting us kindly and helped us out every possible way, right away. Breakfast served at the hotel is exceptional. The location is fairly comfortable, maximum $10 in cab fares to the Old City and the cabs are lined up just on the other side of the road. Bus stops are all around. There are stores, a variety of restaurants and butiques in a close vicinity, including a 24-hour convenience store, a drug store, and a Metro. We were a mere 10 minutes walk from the free Cirque De Sole show."

"Overall it was a good experience and they have free breakfast for the kids. The only issue I experienced is the first night. I had asked for a non-smoking room but the one we had smelled a little bit and had a noisy air conditioner, so it was a little uncomfortable, the following day I requested to have another room, this one was excellent."

"I thought that the restaurant staff were particularly welcoming and remembered details about my stay from one day to the next, But I also had most communication with them so Im sure the rest of the staff were similar."
