As the hotel name suggests, the rooms in this hotel are designed like small apartments, with full kitchenettes. The hotel is therefore ideal for longer stays and is popular with guests travelling in groups and families with children.

The hotel offers free wireless Internet in all its rooms and common areas, and a complimentary cold breakfast. The hotel's rooftop has an indoor heated pool as well as a sundeck. Parking is available at a nearby hotel's parking lot for $20/day.

The hotel's 126 studios and suites all have fully equipped kitchenettes, including fridge, microwave, and stove, as well as dishes and utensils. The rooms also feature a private balcony, LCD TV and pay per view movies, a workdesk, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and phone with voice mail. Guests can choose from 4 room options: studio with 1 queen-size bed, studio with 2 double beds, 1 bedroom suite, or 2 bedroom suite.

The hotel is a 5-minute walk to McGill metro station and to many of Montreal's points of interest, such as McGill University, the shopping centres and boutiques on St. Catherine Street, the nightlife on St. Laurent Boulevard and Montreal's summer outdoor festival site, the Quartier des Spectacles. Mount Royal is about a 15 to 20-minute walk from the hotel, as is Chinatown and Old Montreal.

The hotel is located close to the central train station, which is at Bonaventure metro, about a 15-minute walk or metro ride. The bus station, at Berri-UQAM metro, is about a 20-minute walk or 10-minute metro ride from the hotel. Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport is about 20km from the hotel (all distances and travel times estimates: Google Maps).

Also mentioned a few times in the reviews was the wonderful views of Mount Royal from some of the hotel balconies.

The Bad
Overall, complaints about the hotel were minimal in the reviews used for this analysis.

There were a few guest comments that the rooms and hallways smelled musty and the ventialtion seemed poor. A few guest reviewers with rooms overlooking Sherbrooke Street found their rooms noisy, due to the street noise.

Some guest reviewers who had travelled with cars found the hotel's parking lot, located down the street at another hotel and charging $20/day, inconvenient.

And while many guest reviewers felt there was plenty of good food offered at the complimentary breakfast buffet, a few commented that the croissants and bagels were not of good quality and that there could have been more food.

A few reviewers commented that the d├ęcor was dated, and that the hotel was old and lacking in amenities. However, these were far outnumbered by reviewers who felt the hotel's lack of luxury was outweighed by its value for money.

"The two bedroom suite set up was perfect for my family of six though the pull out couch was standard-uncomfortable. We did enjoy the ability to be able to eat in our room with our young family."

"We were in Montreal to sightsee and relax. We could not have picked a better hotel for those two opportunities! The tour bus picked us up at the hotel door, and taxis were easy to get on the street. Our room was spcaious and we used the refrigerator for the delicious smoked meat and cheeses that are so wonderful in this area. We listened to the Jazz Festival and watched fireworks from the roof terrace and we met people from all over. We decided that Montreal was like a laid-back Paris and that's just the feeling we got ftom our hotel. It's a keeper!"

"A bit expensive, but it's a flat in Montreal."

"I am not sure how I ended up booking on an American site and paying US dollars to process the reservation. My fault - but I thought I was on a Montreal Hotels site which I assumed was run by the city or the province. A bit annoying when I am travelling in my own country! Other than that, a great value and location. Will recommend it to others and will certainly stay there again."
