Overview
Located along the Trans-Canada Highway in north Montreal's Saint Leonard suburb, the Howard Johnson Hotel Montreal is geared towards road travellers who require a hotel with a free breakfast and easy highway access.

Each of the hotel's air-conditioned guest rooms offers free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer and a desk. Rooms with a jetted tub and a sitting area and a sofabed are also available and all rooms are non-smoking. The hotel is not wheelchair accessible.

The hotel also offers meeting/banquet space, a business centre, vending machines, a free breakfast and free parking. Pets are not permitted. 

Please note a $100 refundable deposit will be charged upon check-in. 

Montreal's city centre is about a 22-minute drive from the hotel, while Carrefour Carnaval offers shopping 4 minutes away by car. The Good
The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with praise going to the hotel's staff, location and rooms.

The hotel's staff were the source of many compliments by reviewers. They were characterized as helpful, professional, informative and bilingual.

Numerous guests enjoyed the hotel's location. They found it close to highway access, shopping, Olympic Park, a bus stop, the airport, McGill University, Old Montreal and Montreal Botanical Garden. A few lodgers did find the hotel to be too far from from downtown and the nearest metro station, however. 

Several travellers were pleased with the hotel's accommodations. They described their rooms as clean, spacious, updated, well equipped, well maintained and quiet, with comfortable beds and pillows and fast Wi-Fi. A few patrons had complaints about their rooms, however (see below).

While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were some common complaints about the free breakfast, noise transfer and the rooms.

The hotel's free breakfast was disappointing to some lodgers. They described it as limited, cheap, poor and badly organized, with no hot items available and dirty tables. 

A few guests complained of noise disruptions during their stay. They reported highway and plumbing noise, as well as noise from other guests in adjacent rooms and the hallways.

Although the majority of reviewers were pleased with their clean and well-equipped rooms, a few travellers were disappointed with their lodgings. They reported difficulty regulating the room temperature (too hot or too cold), as well as small rooms and bathrooms.
