Richard from Florence, MA US stayed on April 17, 2006
"Three things- one morning, the friut was not fresh at the breakfast buffet (left over from the day before?), smoking was permitted in the lobby, so that was VERY disagreeable as my children and I had towait a long time in the lobby fro our ride and one day, the maid removed food and drink we were saving from our room- otherwise it was a lovely hotel. By the way smoking is not permitted in restaurants in our state (Massachusetts). As someone said, having a 'smoking' section in a restaurant is like having a 'peeing' section of a pool. The smoke doesn't stay where the smokers are!!-Richard Norris,MD"

"We were pleased that we were allowed to keep our little dogs with us. The staff were very courteous and helpful. We were given another room immediately and without a fuss when we expressed a dislike of the suite we were first assigned to on the first floor.
We found the high ceilings in the suite and the sparse furniture to give the room a cold and less than inviting feeling. The second room felt more comfortable but again the furniture was sparse.
The bathrooms were large and well appointed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and were very pleased with the friendliness of the staff."

"We were given the smallest room on the floor and it was on the first floor near the street noise.
We had iron burn marks all over the carpet in our room.
The hotel staff was nice and helpful."

Thomas from Oakland, CA US stayed on August 07, 2005
"We had problems with one of the staff at the front desk. When we checked in we were told that our rooms would not be ready until 12:00. So we went away and returned at 1:00. Then we were rudely told that check-in was a firm 3:00 and our rooms would not be ready until then. The same rude clerk also was very unhelpful in providing documentation for the return of the Canadian taxes. She refused to provide a copy of a receipt that the Canadian government requires."

"Fantastic for cyclists. We brought our bikes and the hotel gave us a room on the first floor so we could keep the bikes with us in our room. They will also store bikes for you if you are not on the first floor."

"This hotel was a wonderfully quaint place to stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made you feel very comfortable. It was in an excellent location in Old Montreal and close access to the Metro so one could quickly get around the rest of Montreal."

"Staff were excellent!
For the price of the rooms, would like to see a few extra amenities such as coffee maker in room.
We enjoyed our stay and the staff were informative and helpful."

"Because it was very cold the one night we were there, we were unable to really explore the area for shopping and galleries. We look forward to doing so another time. Our son attends McGill so we are often in Montreal. This is our favorite hotel thus far. We patricularly liked the spaciousness of our room and the elegant and luxurious bathroom."

The 19th-century Hotel XIXE Siecle is approximately 20 minutes from Dorval International Airport. Inside, the restoration of certain architectural elements, such as the ceiling frieze in the lobby, help conserve the spirit of the XIXth century. The stairs once leading to the main vaults now give access to a floor-to-ceiling library. You can read quietly at the lobby bar and breathe in the history of its cherry wood walls.
In the heart of historic old Montreal, Hotel XIXE Siecle is located on Rue St-Jacques at the corner of St-Jean, close to the Old Port, Montreal Convention Center, International Trade Center, Stock Market, and the downtown shopping and business core. The hotel is 20 minutes from Dorval Airport, ten minutes walking distance to train central station, and a one-minute walk to two Metro stations.
Hotel XIXE Siecle offers spacious and elegant rooms, each uniquely decorated with primary colors and Louis-Philippe furnishings. Large windows and lofty ceilings help give each room a feeling of grandeur.
