It is adjacent to the Gay Village and a 3-minute walk to the Latin Quarter. The shops, cafés, and bars on St. Denis Street and St. Laurent Boulevard are about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, as are Chinatown and Old Montreal. Many reviewers commented that they were surprised by how nice the hotel was. The rooms were described numerous times in the reviews used as small but clean, modern and "cozy and chic". The bathrooms were also described by many reviewers as updated, sleek and modern, although many acknowledged that they were also small.
The service at the hotel was the object of much praise as well. Staff were described as friendly and warm and a few reviewers commented that they were "great hosts".
The hotel's location next to Berri-UQAM metro station and within 10 minutes' walking distance of many attractions was cited by many reviewers as convenient and ideal.
There were numerous comments that the hotel was reasonably priced and excellent value for money.
The Bad
Overall, most of the comments about this hotel were quite positive in the reviews consulted for this analysis. There were some minor criticisms, mostly directed toward hotel amenities and service hours.
The older, 3-floor building does not have an elevator, and some guests found it difficult to climb the stairs to their rooms above the main floor, particularly with their luggage. As well, there are no phones in the rooms, although guests may use the phone at reception.
A few guests found the continental breakfast a bit lacking in substance, and would have appreciated a hot food option and a serving time that began earlier than 8:00 am.
The front door to the hotel is kept locked and guests are given a key code to enter the building. While some reviewers mentioned that they appreciated the security, a few had some trouble getting back into the hotel after 11:00 pm, when there is no staff at the reception desk. One reviewer cautioned that if guests forget their key code, they may have to wait a little while for staff to buzz them in.
