The GoodGuests who completely enjoyed their stay at the Econo Lodge Downtown Montreal were few in numbers. However some guests made positive comments about aspects of their stay.
Numerous guests appreciated the location of the hotel. It was described as being close to several tourist attractions or amenities. Some guests were very general and just said the property was near to the "best places" or "near to all." Others mentioned the bus terminal, the metro station, and St. Catherine's Street in downtown Montreal.
The price of the hotel was a major factor that seemed to influence several guests' initial decision to stay at the property. They felt that the hotel was inexpensive and many guests accepted shortcomings because they believed that the hotel was priced cheaply.
The Bad
Guest disappointment for this hotel was common. Numerous guests complained about the hotel staff, the cleanliness of the property, or the breakfast.
Many guests described the staff as "unhelpful," "uninterested," or just "rude." One guest, for example, claimed that he complained about his room being dirty upon checking in. When he alerted the staff, he was made to feel as though he was just trying to gain some leverage for a discount.
Several other guests also had problems with room cleanliness. One guest said the carpet smelled poorly, another guest called his room "disgusting", and others just said their rooms were dirty.
The breakfast at the hotel did not receive many compliments either. Some guests felt that it was "terrible" and that it did not offer much choice.
Multiple guests also complained about the location of the hotel and the parking situation. Guests who did not like the location were few in numbers however they typically complained about the downtrodden neighbourhood that they felt the property was situated in. One guest said he thought that people in a nearby park were "drug addicts" while another guest felt frightened by the area. The parking was occasionally described as "a hassle" as guests had to pay for it and then walk to the hotel for several minutes.
