OverviewThe Delta Centre Ville is located on University Street, corner of St. Antoine Street, in downtown Montreal and is also connected to Montreal's famous 'Underground City'.
The 30-floor hotel features a gym, spa, heated indoor pool, sauna and seasonal outdoor deck with lounge chairs. The hotel features two restaurants - a bar/bistro in the lobby and the Restaurant Tour de Ville, a revolving rooftop restaurant (open weekends only).
Free wired Internet is available in the rooms and free wireless Internet is available in the common areas. There is an underground parking lot, which costs $24/day, including in and out privileges. The hotel features interior access to Montreal's 'Underground City' - an expansive network of shops and restaurants, as well as a metro station (Square Victoria). The hotel features 24 meeting rooms as well as a supervised children's play centre.
The hotel's 711 guest rooms feature either one king or two queen-size pillow-top beds, 27-inch TVs with premium channels, pay-per-view movies and video check-out, plus coffeemakers, and cordless phones with voice mail. The rooms are in the process of being renovated. About 170 of the new 'Mode' rooms now feature flat screen TVs, new carpeting, new furniture, renovated bathrooms, and a 'Smartdesk' - a work desk with a panel for guests to plug in their computers and connect to the TV screen. The room renovations will be completed by 2014.
The hotel is located right off the highway (Autoroute 20) and is about 20km from Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. It is less than 1km from the train station (at Bonaventure metro station), and about 2.5km from the bus station (at Berri-UQAM metro station). The Palais de Congres convention centre is accessible from inside the hotel, and both Concordia and McGill University are roughly within a 20 minute walk (all distances and travel time estimates: Google Maps).
The GoodOverall, the hotel received many positive comments for its friendly service, clean rooms, and convenient location.
Staff at the hotel (the front desk agents, the porters, and the cleaning staff) recieved many positive comments in the guest reviews used in this analysis for being efficient, courteous and friendly.
The rooms were described in many reviews as clean and comfortable. Many said that the maid service was excellent and that the beds were very comfortable. Those who had stayed in the recently renovated Mode rooms enjoyed the flat screen TV and modern work desk.
The hotel's location, with its interior connection to the metro and to the city's popular shopping area, and close proximity to the train station and to the highway, was cited as convenient by many guest reviewers. As well, many guest reviewers enjoyed the ambience and view of the city in the hotel's revolving rooftop restaurant.
Several guest reviewers enjoyed the indoor heated pool. One guest travelling with small children appreciated the pool toys, and another guest travelling with a baby wrote that she was grateful for the front desk staff that gave her a bag of toys while she and her baby were at the check-in line.
The Bad
Although the hotel received many positive comments about its staff, rooms and amenities, there were a few inconsistencies regarding these points, in the reviews used for this analysis.
A few guests described their rooms as old and outdated, although the majority of these appeared to have stayed in the rooms which have not yet been renovated. As well, some guests wrote in their reviews that there was mould in the bathrooms.
And while many guests enjoyed the heated indoor pool, particularly those looking to simply relax (or guests travelling with children), there were a few reviewers who described the pool as small and crowded and thus difficult for swimming laps.
While many guests enjoyed the revolving rooftop restaurant, some felt that it was overpriced for the quality of food and that it should be open 7 days a week rather than just on weekends.
A few other guest reviewers also had trouble connecting to the hotel's wireless Internet in the common areas and found the extra cost for wireless Internet in the rooms to be expensive.
