The Good

Numerous reviewers praised the hotel's staff, characterizing them as attentive, friendly, bilingual and knowledgeable.

The hotel's location was a source of many compliments by lodgers. They found it to be close to the casino, the St. Lawrence River, skiing, hiking, whale watching, as well as several restaurants, fromageries and the city's centre. The hotel's grounds were also described as beautiful, peaceful and scenic.

Several guests were pleased with their accommodations at the hotel. They described their rooms as clean and luxuriously decorated, with comfortable beds and great views of the river. It should be noted however, that some guests reported their rooms to be small, and also felt the decor and carpets needed upgrading.

The Bad
While the majority of critiques consulted for this analysis were positive, there were some common complaints about costs, parking and noise transfer.

Several guests were disappointed with the costs incurred during their stay. They cited the additional daily fees of $13.95 for Wi-Fi and $25 for refrigerator rentals, and also complained of the restaurants' food and wine being overpriced.

The hotel's parking was a source of complaint for some reviewers. They described it as poorly laid out and labelled, with free parking being located far from the main door. It was also reported by a couple of guests that the free parking ran out and they had no option but to pay $22 per night for valet parking.

"Not that it is important, but we seemed to be the ONLY ones on our floor who did not get a morning paper.....but that was the worst of it. The pool was crowded and resembled a Holiday Inn...."

2 out of 10 | Eileen stayed August 19, 2004

"It isn't a bad hotel, It just is not a very good value. The building and grounds are beautiful. Communication is poor, it is very unclear as to what is included and what is not. The room was the smallest $320 dollar a night room I have ever been in. Holiday Inns have more spacious rooms. Parking was horrible. They offer valet parking for $19 a day. If you do not take them up on the valet service then you can park for free behind the Casino, if you are out during the day and return around dinner time it is very hard to find a place to park, It was at least a 10 minute walk from the parking to the hotel most of the time."
