Many guests enjoyed their stays at this hotel. It provided nearby access to the casino and downtown Ottawa, it offered clean and large rooms for a reasonable price and had great dining on site.
Guests were able to walk to Casino du Lac-Leamy in 5 minutes or otherwise take a casino-supplied shuttle from the hotel. The location was also handy to shops, groceries and restaurants, trails along the lake, downtown Hull, Palais des Congrès (convention centre in Hull) and Ottawa attractions.
Staff were well liked and described as polite, pleasant and helpful. One reviewer said of the staff, "Front desk staff were amazingly friendly and were so helpful with answering my questions."
Guests enjoyed the spaciousness of their very clean rooms, with a sitting area and unexpected extras such as a double jacuzzi, a fireplace and modern fixtures in the bathroom. Some were pleased to have a very comfortable bed.
Guests also enjoyed dining on site, the 15% discount for meals and great hot breakfast buffets. One recent guest spoke for many when he wrote, "The food was delicious, and the dining room staff, very accommodating."
Guests spoke favourably about the indoor pool, hot tub and sauna and many guests were pleased to have free parking, all these adding value to the stay.
Some guests provided negative feedback on where they felt the hotel could still improve its service.
Recent complaints regarding the rooms were: uncomfortable and hard mattresses, poor pillows, room temperature was either freezing cold or too hot, some rooms smelled of cigarette smoke, noise disturbance from partiers, children banging doors and screaming in the hallway and elevator, jets in jacuzzi blew debris into water, and electric fireplace produced no heat.
Recent complaints regarding the hotel were: small, narrow and outdated elevator which guests had to wait in line to use at times, spa services looked sketchy, buffet breakfast was ordinary, room prices going up by $20-30 each year, route to the casino doesn't seem pedestrian friendly, car was vandalized in the parking lot, a tip was requested at the included buffet breakfast, updated table d'hote menu was not provided online in order to preview, elevator was a far distance from the guest room, and slow lunch service at the restaurant.
Occasionally, guests said that this hotel was a little out of the way and was difficult to find the parking lot entrance from the highway. Some guests said that the main hotel entrance was at the side of the hotel with little parking close by, but once checked in, access to the building from the parking lot improved. A few guests mentioned that the parking lot could get a little crowded.
