Overview
Located on Rue Laurier, in downtown Gatineau, this hotel is near a number of Federal Government offices and is a 4-minute drive or 16-minute walk over the Alexandra Bridge to downtown Ottawa attractions. This hotel is popular with business travellers and with guests who want to have easy, close access to Ottawa.

All of the 133 rooms at this non-smoking  hotel have free Wi-Fi, a hair dryer, a mini-fridge, a 42" plasma TV, a coffeemaker and an iron and ironing board. Most rooms offer a view of either the Gatineau Hills or the Ottawa River. Guests can choose between standard rooms (king or double beds) or more spacious suites (king or queen bed and a sofabed, some with a separate bedroom). Pets are not allowed at this hotel.

The on-site Bristrot Cartier serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. There are also many restaurants located over the bridge in Ottawa's Byward Market (20-minute walk, 6-minute drive). On-site amenities include an indoor pool and a gym. Parking is available on site for $10/day.

The Museum of Civilization in Gatineau is within walking distance (a 6-minute walk). Major's Hill Park is a 4-minute drive or about a 20-minute walk over the bridge, while Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal are a 5-minute drive, or just over a 30-minute walk away. The Good
Many of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, and guests were pleased with this hotel's location and with its views of the Ottawa River.

Several guests appreciated this hotel's proximity to downtown Ottawa (4-minute drive, 16 minute walk) and its attractions.  

Several guests commented on nice views of the Ottawa River from some of the rooms, and from common areas.

Staff here were friendly and helpful, according to guests, and often went out of their way to make sure that guests were comfortable.

A number of guests enjoyed the pool, saying that the area was large and clean. 

There were some additional comments from guests about comfy beds and pillows.

The Bad
Many of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, but guests did commonly complain about the size of the rooms and about aging decor.

The prevailing criticism from guests seemed to be that rooms were quite small and cramped. Guests did not find the layout to be comfortable or easy to move around in. There were several comments about small bathrooms as well.

This hotel was showing its age, according to guests, and several of them suggested that the decor needed to be updated. 

A few guests were bothered by street noise, particularly late at night.  Guests were also bothered by noise from guests in neigbouring rooms and in the hallway.

Some guests found the parking lot tight and difficult to access and said that spots were limited in front of the hotel. Some guests did not feel that the lot behind the hotel was well-lit and/or safe.

A few guests had problems with water pressure in the showers.
