"A very upsetting and unsatisfactory stay in Charlottetown."
"When we arrived - the Customer Service Agent told us we were in an adjoining part of the hotel - the quiet area - it was a motel room (with an outside entrance) facing the fence of a nearby business. It was a very basic room, no view, and in the back dead end section of the motel. When we returned from dinner - we were aware that a party was in full swing in the next room. The hotel stated in their literature that the quiet time was 10 pm. At 11:15 pm I called the front desk stating that we were in the Marathon the next day, required our sleep and that the party was very loud in the next room - we were unable to sleep and that new guests were arriving. The front desk told me that they would call the room to ask them to keep the noise down and if it didn't become quieter - I was to call back. I called back shortly thereafter (20 minutes) as people were leaving the room and standing out on the parking lot - just outside our room and open window - there was no air conditioning and no air movement. The desk must have called the room - because for about a half an hour the noise became less. Then, at about 12:30 am the party started up again in full swing - at least one car arrived and those passengers joined the party - and so I called the front desk again. The Customer Service Representative told me that after my earlier call - she had called and asked them to keep it down and a coworker came to the room and asked them to keep the noise down as it was disturbing other guests. She also said that she had seen at least one cab come to the back area of the hotel and that they had said they were leaving shortly to go downtown. She then told me when she called - she was going to tell them they would be paying for our room as they were disturbing our sleep. Shortly thereafter - a couple of cabs came to the room and the noise quieted down. I asked if she was going to advise them who was complaining because we had our window open and were right next door to their room. We were concerned that they become upset with us complaining and we knew there was a lot of drinking occurring - people were getting louder and louder. She said no - but reassured me that my stay would be free for all the inconvenience we were experiencing. At 6:00 am someone was banging on the neighbour's door and yelling for their friends to answer the door - the banging and yelling continued for 15 minutes(the length of my shower) until someone finally answered the door. My daughter was lying in bed, waiting for me to finish in the bathroom - and timed this - concerned they may bang on our door. When we packed up and went to check out - we were advised that indeed our room was not free or paid for as the Customer Service Representative had advised me the night before because I had booked it online and not paid the hotel directly - I would be charged for my room. If I had booked the room directly from the hotel and this situation had occurred - the hotel could refund me the money. Because I booked it online - it was my own issue. The Customer Service Representative was not apologetic or did not seem to be concerned at all - he just stated there would be no financial compensation and it was not the hotel who could do anything about it. I will never go back to this hotel again. I do feel that the promise of the Customer Service Agent should be honoured - this stay was not enjoyable, restful or comfortable."
