Overview
Victoria's Mansion Guest House is located on the north side of Gloucester Street between Church Street and Yonge Street in Toronto, Ontario.

The 20 room guest house was originally built in the 1880's however it has been updated and modernized over the years while retaining some of its Victorian era style. Facilities at the guest house include a laundry room and some guest parking ($10 per night). Guests that are not able to use the guest house's parking will find additional parking lots near the property.

There is no on-site restaurant however there are dining options in the area and some restaurants that are close to the hotel offer guests discounts. The guest house should not be mistaken for a bed-and-breakfast as breakfast is not included with stays.

The property has four floors and rooms include private bathrooms, air conditioning, free wireless Internet access (in-room and throughout building), cable TV, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and dishware. Bedding options are diverse and they include single rooms (ie. one twin, one double, one queen, or one king) or twin rooms (ie. two singles). There are also studios at the hotel that come with kitchenettes.

The nearest subway station is Wellesley Station which is at a distance of about 400m. The University of Toronto is roughly 1.4km from the hotel while Union Station is about 2.8km away (distances - Google Maps).

Check in time at this property is at 3pm while check out time is 11am. The front desk is not always staffed and office hours are typically between 11am and 7pm.

The Good
Guests that stayed at this guest house typically enjoyed their stays. The rates, the location, and the rooms all received a fair number of compliments.

When it came to the rates virtually all guests felt as though this property offered affordability. One guest who was studying indicated that the "price was very reasonable, even on a student's budget." Several other patrons indicated that they thought they received good prices or value as well.

The location of the hotel was well-liked by guests who wanted to be downtown. One guest, for example, said the guest house was "close to all the action" with restaurants and bars in the area. Another guest claimed that the property was "only 2 minutes to the subway" which "(connected) to everything quickly."

Guests that liked their rooms usually said that they were clean or even "spotless." In-room amenities such as fridges and microwaves were also considered helpful. Some guests also appreciated that in-room Internet was free.

Occasionally a guest indicated that he/she liked the Victorian style of the hotel.

The Bad
Some guests did not fully enjoy their stays and the guest house received some complaints from a few different perspectives.

While the rooms were well-liked for a few reasons some guests felt as though they were small or basic. One guest called the rooms "very small" and multiple guests singled out the bathrooms for being diminutive.

Many guests felt that the reception's limited hours of operation were inconvenient. They indicated that they did not see many staff tending to the front desk and felt that this could cause problems for some guests, especially late arrivals.

The staff received some inconsistent reviews as multiple guests described unfriendliness.

Occasionally a guest was disappointed that the guest house did not offer a breakfast, a feature that is common to most accommodations that are run out of a house-like building. Also, some guests were disappointed that there was no elevator at the property.
