"The Staff @ the Victoria were very helpful & friendly, the rooms were very clean. Our entire group enjoyed their stay. we plan on going back to T.O. soon & will definitely stay @ the Victoria Hotel. I would recommend this hotel."

"It seems as though they are stuck in a void between being a bargain hotel and a great boutique hotel. Needs a lot of work on the cleaning front. Conceirges were pretty bad...not very attentive or responsive, and generally lacking in any sort of personality."

"The hotel reminded me of a European hotel so in that respect it was unique in a most positive way. The room wasn't overly big but certainly adequate. There were two especially great features about the hotel. One was location, location, location. The second was the staff who were nothing short of outstanding. Helpful, willing to do anything to make your stay better and personable in that they made the guests the focal point. Great stay and I would definitely go again."

"Very centrally located in Toronto's business district, small, clean, quiet. The rooms are small and there are no "central facilities" but its right on Yonge street, very safe and great for either business or vacationers that are out and about most of the day. Everything was clean and well functioning."

"When we had checked into the hotel, the smoke detector was going off in one of the rooms on our floor for several hours, even when we called down to the desk to have someone check it out - when we left the room to view the city, the alarm was still beeping.
When we came back for the evening, the alarm was finished but the room was not cleaned - as we soon found out.
When settling down to get some sleep, we smelt that the room was either not cleaned or not cleaned up properly as we could smell the remnants of someone having been sick earlier before when they had the room we were in.
The carpet and bedskirt smelt heavily of vomit.
We called down to switch rooms and were unhappy that we were given that room.
The night manager came up only to quickly tell us that we could switch rooms, no apology, nothing offered for our inconveniences. We had asked for a refund as clearly, this hotel needed some changes and certain "inconveniences" kept us from enjoying our stay. The hotel manager for the evening, refused to say anything to us but "No, we cannot have that."
The room we were placed in was smaller than our original room - but it was late so we kept the room.
Early on in the morning, we heard the cleaning staff speaking loudly outside in the hallway before cleaning other rooms - They were also testing their smoke detectors in the rooms they were in... there was no notice given that this would be happening in the early morning, and this woke us both up from a short sleep from the night before.
When we were checking out of the hotel, there was only a sign on the wall by the elevator and on the inside mentioning that only on March 22nd 2006, would they be testing fire alarms, but nothing anywhere mentioning about the smoke detector testings in the rooms. I was not happy.
As well, when we finally reached the lobby, the consierge did not ask us about our stay, how we enjoyed the room etc. He was friendly but did not go any further to assist us in that area.
The website for the Hotel Victoria mentiones Gym/Pool Ameneties... there was nothing.
That was not even brought up to us upon checking in.
I was very unsatisfied with this hotel.
I would NOT recommend anyone staying there as this may occur to some more than once."

"The plumbing was horrible, we had to call the front desk to come and unclog the toilet. This did not work, and with every usage, we had to use the plunger( that the guy at the front desk left for us) to unclog the toilet ourselves.
I have stayed in this hotel before, and never had these problems."

"I dropped something behind the bed in my room, and encountered a disgusting layer of dust. It was excessive, and I felt compelled to wash my hands afterwards. Otherwise, the room appeared clean. Nevertheless, I was then aware that I was sleeping above filth.
The front desk staff is surly and uncommunicative, with the exception of a young girl and a gentleman who though pleasant, is struggling with English. The latter two were at least doing their best to be pleasant."

"The hotel was a little 'tired'. Although the room was comfortable and clean, the decor and furnishings required some updating. The public areas of the hotel were rather shabby however there appeared to be some work in progress.
The price remained good value however, especially with the convenient downtown location."

"I'm a repeat customer. The continental breakfast is as added bonus. But the main reason for my stay is the location. It's a five minute walk from Union Station. If you don't have to use Pearson Airport, then don't - take the train from Ottawa instead!"

"The Lobby needs some work. After all the 1st impression is the most important. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spotless ( very important to me). The location was fabulous for downtown Toronto, being very close to Union Station, the subway and the underground "Path". My sister and I are going to make it an annual event and stay at this hotel."

"There is one lady at the reception who looks and sounds Spanish (Latin) and she has a mouth so big, the CN Tower would easily fit in. She starts yells at you when things arenīt going her way and is outspoken customer unfriendly. First day on the job should have been the last day as well, but she was back the next morning so she has worked there at least for 2 days. Or maybe even still works there ..."

"Parking is a problem, and wasn't accurately described in the online material. You had to walk three blocks to the public garage. Payment process at public garage was confusing and annoying and not well explained. Having to stop the car in a no standing zone on a busy street to unload and load was no fun."

"This is a very nice small hotel on Yonge Street. It is near the subway station and near a few streetcar lines. It has been nicely redecorated and seemed very clean. The drawback is the size of the room I had - very small and because it is in the middle of a city block there was no view from the window. They offered a continental breakfast downstairs which was convenient but not especially noteworthy.
It was a good deal for what I paid for the room."
