OverviewThe Fairmont Royal York is located on the north side of Front Street West in downtown Toronto, Ontario between Bay Street and York Street. Union Station, which offers access to Toronto's TTC subway system, the GO train and bus services and the VIA rail service, is accessible from the hotel through an underground walkway (the PATH).
Eaton Centre, the Hockey Hall of Fame, and the Air Canada Centre are also accessible via the underground PATH and they are in the nearby area. The Fairmont Royal York is also located near the Roger's Centre and the CN Tower.
The hotel features 1365 guest rooms with common amenities including air conditioning, alarm clock radio, bathrobes, cable television, hair dryers, and irons with ironing boards. High speed Internet ($13.95 per day), microwaves, and refrigerators are available in rooms as well but only at extra charge.
Suites at the hotel can have either one king bed, one queen bed, or two double beds. They range in size from 500 square feet for the Signature Suite to 2,470 square feet for the Royal Suite.
Facilities at the Fairmont Royal York include five superior restaurants and four lounges. There is also a business centre, a fitness centre, and a spa at the hotel.
Parking is available at the property at a cost of $42 per day and there are valet service options.

Guests frequently commented on the beauty of the hotel, especially the public areas. Multiple guests thought that the hotel looked amazing, that the property was nice and upscale, and that it was beautifully maintained with attention paid to detail.
Additionally, guests commonly paid many compliments to the property's staff. Hotel patrons commonly thought that the employees were "friendly" and "helpful" people with multiple guests saying that the staff were "excellent."
Several guests also complimented the location of the property. Numerous guests said that being close to the train station (Union Station) was handy. Other guests who visited the Air Canada Centre (home of the Toronto Raptors and the Toronto Maple Leafs) found the location of the hotel convenient for attending entertainment events.
Occasionally guests also mentioned that the underground walkway attached to the hotel helped them out as it provided access to the train station and shopping without having to go outside.
A peripheral compliment for the hotel pertained to the room cleanliness and the comfort of the beds, although there were some counter opinions in regard to overall room quality.
The Bad
When guests complained about the Fairmont Royal York they usually said something negative about either the parking situation or the guest rooms. Many concerns were also expressed over the value guests received for the prices they paid in regard to several services.
Guests who were unhappy with the parking at the property usually felt that it was either too expensive at $42 per night or that the spaces were too difficult to park in. Those that used the valet service often said that the valets were busy and unable to retrieve their vehicles in a timely manner.
Several guests thought the hotel was overpriced in regard to room rates. Many of these guests described their rooms as small or "dated" and in need of improvements. Also, the fact that the room rate did not include free Internet made the received value for the price paid seem even worse to some.
While patrons did not complain about the quality of the food in the restaurants at the hotel, some felt that dining at the property was too expensive.
