"You get what you pay for: "the extra mile".
Highly recommended for (wealthy) businessman on a day or two trip, couples high-quality getaways, special occasions..."

"The Royal York is a beautiful, classic hotel with great views of the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful and although we were not the usual high quality costomer of this establishment, we were made to feel quite welcome. I am not a oversized man but the toilet was a bit too close to the sink. Also, we were a bit reluctant to try the $49 Sunday Brunch. Anyone try it and was it worth it ?"

"FIRST OF ALL. OUR ROOM WAS SO SMALL THAT IT LOOKED LIKE A
BIG WALK IN CLOSET. THERE WAS NO VIEW AT ALL.
SECONDLY, OUR ROOM WAS NOT CLEANED."

"Check-in staff at Reception (Greg) v. friendly and helpful. Room was smaller than booked (Queen-sized bed instead of King-size) yet rate was same. No mini-bar provided. No milk for coffee, and took so long to deliver some that we almost cancelled. Bathroom needs detailed attention to cleaning; muck in wastehole of bath and black mould in grout. We had travelled the day before so were glad the room was quiet at night, but less than delighted with loud conversations between cleaning staff outside the door at 8 am. We liked breakfasting at York Kitchen but found the pricing confusing. E.g. my wife only has coffee and a croissant for breakfast, yet only full Continental appears on menu. Adjustments have to be made at discretion of waiters. This seems cumbersome. Why not price by item? Express Checkout wouldn't work for me and there was a long checkout queue, although 3 staff on. Information staff very helpful. We had a better stay at your Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. The Royal York needs to lift its act a bit, although it seems to be better value than hotels a few blocks further to the north."

"Late check out of 1pm was not much different to normal check out time.
Business centre was closed on weekends and evenings which was a bit inconvenient.
Otherwise the stay was very pleasant."

"Upon arrival I noted that there were no bathrobes in our room. I immediately asked housekeeping regarding this matter, as I planned to use the lap pool. At 1:30 p.m. She advised that they would be brought up shortly.
After our dinner meeting, we arrived back at the hotel at 2:00 a.m. to find that we still had yet to have bathrobes. I asked the Front Desk about this matter, and 45 minutes later they arrived (had to stay awake for them to arrive)."

"I booked a good room at the Royal York and when I called to confirm, I mentioned that I would be checking in very late, as my bride and I would be returning from our wedding reception. When we did check in, we were given a major upgrade as a sort of wedding gift... you don't find customer service like that in a manual... you either have it or you don't. Excellent Hotel."

"Very impressed with the building itself, decor & furnishings.
The staff were v good, although I did not feel that the restaurant service was not up to UK standards.
I would definately stay at The Royal York again.
Thank you,
Robert Harlow"
