The Good
Many guests enjoyed this upscale but somewhat conservative hotel. Although it lacked the pizzazz of newer and more modern luxury hotels, it provided a clean and comfortable stay in a great location, with very friendly staff, and many felt it was a good value for the price.

The rooms although a tad dated, were well appointed with modern amenities, and classically designed with spacious marble bathrooms, comfortable beds and quality linens.

The staff were a highlight. They often were described as providing outstanding service. They were friendly, personable and attentive.

The location was ideal for many guests. They loved being near to the subway station and high-end shopping on Bloor. They found great restaurants in walking distance and many thought the area was pretty to walk around in, exploring. Some used it to access the ROM.

Guests enjoyed dining on site whether at the restaurant, the vodka bar or for room service. One recent guest wrote, "The dining is impeccable, food and environment - in the restaurant and in-room service!" and another simply said "The food was delicious."

Guests typically enjoyed the indoor pool and sun deck. One guest wrote recently, "The swimming pool has wonderful views of downtown including the CN tower, as it has magnificent windows on the ceiling. In the summer you can go outside to the deck."

The Bad
Many guests gave the hotel full marks, but there was a little critique of the hotel as well online.

Occasionally some guests were a little underwhelmed by the hotel or rooms. This was usually due to its style and decor being a little older or dated and this was clearly a matter of taste with some guests finding it cozy and charming and some saying it needed renovation. A few guests found their rooms or hallways dimly lit and there was some mention of the showers having low or restricted water pressure.

Sometimes guests said the pool was a little small and the gym was average.

There was also the usual complaints about paid Wi-Fi, although guests could get it for free if they joined the hotel's reward program.

Some also felt the valet parking and pet fees were high.
