The Good
The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with praise going to the hotel's location, staff and rooms.

Numerous reviewers praised the hotel's location. They found it close to downtown Toronto, public transit, shopping, restaurants, the Royal Ontario Museum, the University of Toronto, the CN Tower and the Bata Shoe Museum.

The hotel's staff were the source of many compliments by guests, who characterized them as friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. One patron remarked, "the staff was incredible and over the top kind from helping to coordinate the return of my delayed luggage, to assisting with a late night run to a pharmacy due to a startling break out of hives on my face, to managing an unexpected influx of local, elderly guests due to the ice storm which caused widespread power outages throughout the city".

Several lodgers were pleased with the hotel's accommodations. They described their rooms as clean, well maintained, spacious and quiet, with comfortable beds and great city views. A few travellers had complaints about their lodgings, however (see below).
The Bad
While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a few complaints about the rooms and the cost.

Although the majority of reviewers were pleased with their clean and spacious rooms, a few guests criticized their lodgings. They reported no fridges in some rooms, dated decor, uncomfortable beds and rooms that were too hot. Noise transfer from guests in the hallways was also reported by a few lodgers.

A few patrons were disappointed with the cost of the hotel. They felt the parking and breakfast were expensive and that both of these items should have been included in the price.

"Excellent for no frills value and comfort"

"Its simple but comfortable. No frills accommodation at a good price in a great location. I have been coming here for over twenty years so it must be OK!"

"My family enjoyed staying there. The manager was very courteous and attentive to our needs, and the room has beds with thick matresses for a good-night sleep. On the downside, I wish that parking fee had been less and the swimming pool were readily avaialble easy access."

"In my opinion, a bit pricey. When all the taxes and expensive parking fee came out,it was quite a bit higher than the $125.99 listed. I'm a US resident so I'm not used to all the taxes.."

"The hotels location is very good and not too noisy although most of the Univesity of Toronto close-by has been shut down at this time of the year. The decor should have been upgraded better in the lobby etc. as well as the carpetting that has a certain unpleasant smell. The lifts should be upgraded too as one has to wait a while with particular inconvenience of guests staying in the upper floors. I expected to be briefed better about the changeover and informed of the available different rates and accomodation at the Hotel such as suites and other standard rooms on Boor Street etc and parking facilities. I would gladly consider staying again at the hotel."

"I was given a room that had a very rank odor, but the desk person was quick to give me another room which changed my stay from "the last at the hotel" to repeat future visits."
