Overview
Located about a 7-minute drive east of the Trans-Canada Hwy in an industrial area, this hotel appeals to guests looking for accommodations at a lower price point while visiting the Thunder Bay area.

All of the 93 rooms at this hotel have free Wi-Fi, free wired internet, a hair dryer, a coffeemaker and an iron and ironing board. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. Guests can choose between rooms with various configurations and bed types (double, queen or king). Pets are permitted for a cost of $20/stay.

There is no on-site restaurant, but guests are offered a continental breakfast daily. There are a number of restaurants located within a 5- to 10-minute drive of this hotel. On-site amenities include free parking and an indoor pool (currently undergoing extensive renovations, no completion date set as of September 18, 2012).

Shopping at several big box stores (Shoppers Drug Mart, Chapters, Play it Again Sports, Pet Smart) is within a 20-minute walk or less than a 5-minute drive. Also within walking distance are the Canada Games Complex (6 minutes) and the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium (4 minutes). The downtown Thunder Bay area is about a 7-minute drive away, while Lakehead University is about a 5-minute drive away. The Bad
The bulk of the reviews sourced for this analysis were negative. Guests complained commonly about the hotel's general appearance and about how thorough the cleaning was.

Several guests complained about a lack of detailed cleaning and suggested that updates were in order, as this hotel was showing its age. Guests reported that the carpets were worn and dirty, linens and towels were stained, baseboards in the room were in need of a thorough cleaning and furniture and window coverings were in need of a makeover. Bathrooms were particularly dirty, according to guests, and several guests mentioned mold around the tub and the tiles.

Several guests complained of unpleasant odours in their rooms, which some described as musty, while others thought that they were sourced from cigarette smoke.

A number of guests had problems with their TVs. Guests said that the TVs were old. Some complained about the picture, while some others had issues with cable reception and with volume.

There were some additional comments about the quality and selection of food offered at the continental breakfast.

"There is a fire hazard. In all the rooms the bed is pressed right up against the power bar cord which hosts the bedside lamps. I had to move my bed back away from the wall to feel safe."

"They could replace or repair the wallpaper that is peeling off the wall! The non'smoking hallway still smells smokey, no air conditioning in the hallways! Get nice and sweaty getting your luggage to your room! Continental Breakfast had no fruit or toast. Poor selection."

"The free breakfast was a skimpy but the croissants were REAL and that made it OK. We found a wonderful Italian restaurant nearby and had a wonderful evening. The marina walk was only a mile or so away and was beautiful."
