This area of Sudbury features boutique shopping, a farmers market, and government offices. Science North and Dynamic Earth are two family-oriented attractions in Sudbury. Science North is a 5 minute drive away and features an IMAX theatre, interactive science exhibits, and a planetarium. Dynamic Earth provides mining tours (7 storeys underground) and features the "Big Nickel", a 30-foot high replica of the Canadian Nickel. This venue is an 8 minute drive from the hotel.

The GoodOf the reviews used for this analysis, complaints about this hotel seemed to outnumber compliments. However, there were a few aspects that received positive feedback.
The customer service provided by the front desk agents was described as friendly and attentive. A few guests mentioned that the staff were quick to respond to concerns, with one reviewer stating, "If you are dissatisfied, the staff here will bend over backwards to fix it."
A few guests also noted that the hotel was conveniently located for accessing the 400 highway (to Toronto) and family attractions. A couple of reviewers also found many restaurants nearby.
Several reviewers complimented the quality of the breakfast served at the on-site restaurant.
The Bad
There were many areas of concern addressed among the reviews used for this analysis. The most common complaint was the need for upgrades and repairs throughout the property. Guests described worn curtains and carpeting, slow elevators with missing buttons, dated decor, peeling paint, chipped plaster, and a run-down pool area. A few guests, who stated that they were familiar with the Holiday Inn chain, thought that this property did not meet the standards of the brand.
Several guests found a lack of soundproofing in their rooms. A few guests complained that noise from the hallways caused a disturbance, while other reviewers complained about noise from neighbouring rooms. A couple of guests also found the in-room climate control equipment loud.
Complaints were also made about cleanliness throughout the property. A few guests found an unpleasant odour in their room, while a couple of guests complained about a lack of housekeeping service during their multi-night stay (no garbage removal or sheet changes). A couple of other reviewers also noted that surfaces in the restaurant appeared dusty and unclean.
Several guests found the layout of the hotel confusing and complained about a lack of helpful signage. A few reviewers said the hotel appeared have constructed additions onto the original building and that created an awkward floor plan. One guest experienced such difficulty finding his room that he had to have a front desk agent escort him to his room.
While the on-site restaurant received some compliments for the food quality (see above), it also received several complaints about the service. Some guests described the wait staff as slow, disinterested, and distracted.
