The Good
Guests offered somewhat mixed reviews of this motel property. The hotel is renovating and some rooms are updated with others still in a very dated condition. Guests who enjoyed their stays seemed to be in the majority with the convenient location, friendly staff and on-site restaurant taking up the slack for a poorer room.

Many guests found comfortable beds. Rooms that faced north offered forest views, otherwise guests faced the parking lot.

The Norfolk Centre is on site and offers a professional gym, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. This was a highlight for families with children and guests who wanted to have a good workout in the gym. Some said the pool was comfortably warm for swimming.

The location was in a nice quiet area of Simcoe, convenient to restaurants and shopping. Guests typically used this hotel to access Port Dover and Norfolk Country beaches.

The restaurant on site was typically enjoyed by guests and locals alike. One guest wrote, "There is also The Shire brew-pub on site which has good food as well as an interesting selection of craft beers on draught."

The Bad
Complaints seemed frequent, and guests who got the older rooms often voiced their disappointment in the quality of their experience and the higher, unexpected room price for such a dated room.

Because only the renovated rooms were pictured online, one guest reviewer felt the hotel was falsely advertising their rooms. Others complained of poorly cleaned and poorly maintained rooms or rooms that smelled of smoke or mildew.

The free breakfast was considered sparse by some (and adequate by others) and sometimes guests felt it ended too early at 9 am, not allowing for a little time to sleep in.

The fitness centre had limited hours on Sunday, not allowing for an early morning work out.

Several guests complained of guests drinking and smoking in the outdoor corridors causing a noise disturbance.
