"I made a reservation for Howard Johnson near the Union Station and finally we are Howard Johnson situated at Metropolitan Road (we must paid 48 dollars+48 dollars to go and come Union Station).,all of this for to be in an hotel not very clean and far away. I am not very glad."

"Even though we booked this hotel about 2 months in advance as a non-smoking room, we were put in a smoking room. The hotel staff didn't care at all. The customer service was terrible. The hotel is miles away from anywhere interesting. The place looks like it needs gutting and starting again.
All in all, probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Avoid."

"Room was gungy and unclean (others were renovated it appears, ours was not).
COuld not get additional pillows as they were (out of stock).
Some nominal room amentities were missing and had to be sourced (i.e. coffee for coffee maker).
Not a pleasent stay or experience."

"Guy named Mike at front desk very rude. Called him about parking to ensure car would not be towed away as the sign in that area read "park at owner's risk and car may be towed away". His response was as long as I did not park in the room I would be fine!! Unecessary rudeness to a guest who is paying your salary that needs to be addressed. This was the only thing that kinda affected my visit, otherwise everything else was great.
Also, the response time of the front desk is terrible. Called them about 10 times before getting a response from a live person - kept cycling in their automated phone messages until rude Mike answered!!

"Few small problems, but nothing major to be fair, except the hotel is a good hour by public transport from Toronto city centre. However, transport is almost right outside hotel and at time of review was only $2.50 into Toronto, which we couldn't complain at!

"Howard Johnson Hotel has a very poor management. The hotel does not have enough staff to assist customer's need. The room is old and has musty smell. Air condition does not work properly and create a loud noise. No elevator for second floor access. The hotel does not provide a proof or receipt for customer to claim the tax return from Canada customs. Their deluxe breakfast is not what the hotel claimed. For example, they have bagels, but does not have cream cheese. Over all, the experience was very uncompfortable. My family will never stay at this chain hotel in the future."
