Overview
Located in the east end, near a number of big box stores and Ottawa's Industrial Park, and approximately a 12 minute drive to the downtown Ottawa area, this hotel is popular with guests who don't mind driving to access a number of attractions. Also given its proximity to the Ottawa General Hospital (less than a 10 minute drive) the hotel is also popular with families of patients.

Guests have their choice of a number of different rooms with different bed types and configurations. There are non-smoking and smoking rooms available. In all rooms, guests can expect WI FI, a hair dryer, an iron and an ironing board, a coffeemaker and a 36-inch flat screen TV. On-site parking is complimentary, and pets are welcome free of charge. There is also an indoor heated pool.

There are a few restaurants nearby the hotel, but guests can dine on site at Broadway's Bar and Grill for breakfast, lunch and dinner, open Monday-Friday 6:30am-1:00am, Saturday 7:00am-1:00am and Sunday 7:00am-11:00pm.

This hotel is located next to the Trans Canada highway interchange (highway 417), and provides quick, direct access to main arteries. 

There are a cluster of major attractions, including Parliament Hill, the Byward Market and the Rideau Canal, all reachable in less than a 15 minute drive. Also located in the east end, the Canadian Musuem of Science and Technology is about a 9 minute drive away. 

Guests travelling by air should budget about 25 minutes to travel the 20.7km between the hotel and MacDonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) (distances and travel time estimates: Google Maps).

The Good
Ease of access from the highway, along with good customer service were mostly at the root of the positive reviews for this hotel.

Guests received good service from staff at this hotel, and used words like "accommodating" and "knowledgeable" to describe them. There was particular mention of the front desk staff and a smooth check-in process. One guest said that staff opened the pool early based on their request.

Location was a positive factor for a few guests, who liked the proxmitiy to the highway, and felt that it was easy to access. Guests liked that there were a number of dining options located nearby the hotel.

There were a few additional comments on ample parking and comfy beds.

Guests that spoke negatively, of the reviews used for this analysis, typically mentioned ageing decor and a lack of  attention to cleaning in the rooms.

A number of guests indicated that there was a lack of detailed cleaning in the rooms, and were specific in mentioning dirty bathtubs and tiles, and dirty end tables and desks.

For a few guests, the prevailing sentiment was that this hotel was in need of a facelift, inside and out, and referred to aged linens, bedspreads and furniture.

A number of guests complained of unpleasant odours in their rooms and in the hallways, which guests surmised came from a number of sources. One guests was able to disperse much of the odour by opening windows. Another guest said that their sheets were smelly.

There were a few additional comments, centring on things like spotty WI FI connections and difficulty working heating units.
