The Good
Guests typically enjoyed their stay.

Rooms were large and clean, and well equipped with kitchens, huge TVs, comfy beds and quality linens. Some enjoyed nice views from the higher floors.

The location was well liked. It was next to the restaurants and shops of Elgin Street, on a good bus route and walking distance to Ottawa’s main attractions.

Staff were described as courteous, welcoming and helpful.

Guests often liked the free breakfast. It offered a variety of breakfast sandwiches (could be made to order), hash browns, hard-boiled eggs, fruit salad and bags to go.

Guests also liked: indoor parking in the winter, fitness room had an Olympic size bench, and breakfast/lunch bag to go provided bottled water, snacks and fruit that guests loved taking for later in the day, free laundry machines and being allowed to park on site after check out.

The Bad
Some guests offered suggestions for improvement.

Recent room complaints were: room very dated, mattress too soft, no blackout blinds that covered the entire window, window was dirty, poor water pressure or restricted flow, décor was bland with no pictures on the walls, door locking mechanism was odd (had to re-swipe it order to lock when leaving), carpet could use refreshing and furniture was dated.

Noise was a disturbance for some. They blamed pedestrians attending the comedy club across the street, party music, the restaurant/bar on site, neighbour’s conversations and other sounds from guests that transferred through the in-room vents.

Some guests complained about the parking. They said the spots were limited and the garage was cluttered and narrow making driving around the corners difficult. Occasionally, guests had to park off site.

Although guests often found the staff friendly, there was the occasional complaint about staff that were not particularly friendly.

Other comments found were: no chairs on the balcony, hallways were used to store housekeeping supplies, not much room to stop and unload luggage at the hotel entrance, hotel could use a refreshing, weird/curry smell in hallway, dark reception area in need of better cleaning, not aware of a $300 deposit to be charged to a credit card, and elevators small and slow.
