The Good
Guests had enjoyable stays at this hotel.

The staff were very professional, pro-active and offered consistently good service.

The location was excellent. Right on Sparks Street and in walking distance to Parliament Hill, Rideau Centre and Byward Market. One happy reviewer said the bus from the airport, cost only $3 each way and dropped him off within a block from the hotel.

Although getting a little dated, the rooms were clean and quiet and offered comfortable beds, good shower pressure and ample towels. Guests liked have HDTVs with HD programming, lots of channels and ability to plug into the TV through a HDMI port. The mini-fridges helped to save on dining out costs, and some were pleased to have walk-out balconies and views of the Parliament and Ottawa River.

Some enjoyed dining on site and room service. One guest wrote, "My best part of the stay was the excellent food at the hotel restaurant - Spin. They feature select appetizers and cocktails for $6 from 4 - 6 p.m. The drinks and the food were very good." Guests also liked having a Starbucks on site.

Wi-Fi was rated as excellent.

Adding value were the kid's room and teen room with games and activities, 6 elevators giving quick access to the rooms, and the clean good-size pool and adequately-equipped fitness area.

The Bad
There were some areas that could have been improved, according to some of the guests.

Some felt the building was older and that it showed. They recommended renovating to take it out of the 80's feel. Although guests liked the pool area, some said it was getting older with chipped tiles and could use a refresh. Also there was no hot tub which was missed.

Guests also sometimes mentioned that their rooms were getting dated, with tiny, worn bathrooms that had no extractor fan.  Lifting carpets and AC units that were ineffective were also mentioned. Some advised that the rooms should really supply safes.

One guest said that Wi-Fi was limited to 4 devices per room, which made it inconvenient for guests travelling with their families.

Although the hotel was often reported as quiet, there was the occasional complaint of noisy guests in the hallways, slamming doors, plumbing sounds and the elevator shaft and bell. A few said they could hear outside traffic.
