While the secluded location of this hotel provides for great scenery, beyond the Tim Horton's next door, there are not many restaurant options within walking distance. Guests can dine on site at the Pine restaurant for breakfast and lunch (7:00am-2:00pm) and for supper (5:00pm-10:00pm). There is also a Sunday Brunch served from 10:30am-2:00pm.
Guests will most certainly need a vehicle to access shopping, attractions and restaurants. A popular cluster of attractions, including the Byward Market, Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal are all about a 25 minute drive from the hotel. The Museum of Science and Technology is about a 25 minute drive east of the hotel, and the Canadian Museum of Nature is just under a 20 minute drive away. This hotel is about 7km from MacDonald-Cartier International Airport, which takes about an 11 minute drive (distances and driving time estimates: Google Maps).

The GoodFor guests who had a positive experience, much of it could be attributed to the convenient, scenic location of the hotel, as well as good customer service.
For a number of guests, being surrounded by such a large amount of green space on the Rideau River enhanced their stay. A few guests also felt that the hotel was in a good location in relation to the airport and to downtown.
Guests received good service from staff here, and used words like "friendly" and "helpful" to describe their impressions. They mentioned front desk staff as well as housekeeping specifically.
A few guests also perceived good value for the price they paid for their rooms, using words like "reasonably priced".
There were a few additional comments on the quality of food in the restaurant and from guests who enjoyed sitting out on the patio.
The Bad
For guests who had an unpleasant experience at this hotel, noise and the dated appearance of this hotel were mostly to blame.
Noise was an issue for some guests, who felt that walls were thin and were disturbed by loud guests in neighbouring rooms. A few guests indicated that the heating/A/C units were noisy as well.
A number of guests commented on ageing decor, both in the rooms and in the common areas, and suggested that updates and/or renovations were in order. They commented specifically on sofas, carpets, bedspreads and floor tiles.
There were a number of guests who had problems with WI FI connections, saying that signals were weak and unreliable.
Some guests indicated that there were plumbing problems, including leaky toilets and bathtubs.
There were some peripheral complaints, centring on things like odours in rooms and uncomfortable beds.
