The Good
Guests often enjoyed their stay in this historic and fully-renovated hotel.

Rooms were very clean, updated, and well appointed with comfy beds. Guests liked views of Confederation Park from east-facing rooms.

The location was well liked. It was next to the restaurants and shops of Elgin Street and walking distance to Ottawa’s main attractions. Guests liked having a taxi stand right outside the hotel.

Staff were excellent--polite, accommodating and very helpful.

Some guests enjoyed dining on site. They mentioned tasty breakfast, good room service and an enjoyable breakfast buffet with good variety.

Guests also liked: quick and friendly valet service, a well-equipped fitness room, a nice size pool, variety of TV channels, eco-program at the hotel with $5 voucher, the beautiful décor of the lobby and the architecture of the building.

The Bad
Some guests offered suggestions for improvement.

Recent room complaints were: room/bathroom was small, poor lighting in bathroom, low-quality tissue, uncomfortable bed, no extra chair but the desk chair, air was very dry, difficulty adjusting temperature, TV sound was controlled to half volume, could not use own cables on TVs, old wood smell in closet, no light switch on wall when you enter the room and bottled water in the room cost $4.

Noise was a disturbance for some. They blamed heaters/AC fan in room, children running in the hallways, sounds from neighbouring rooms, toilets flushing, doors closing, outdoor traffic, outdoor Winterlude activities and construction near the hotel in May 2017.

A few guests found the service slow at the restaurant and bar and the food lacking in quality as well as expensive.

Other comments found were: hallways were dark, pool was a little dated and dark with some rusty hinges, pool water was a little cold for toddlers, and free Wi-Fi did not provide access to streaming services.
