Built in 1895 and furnished throughout with period Victorian antiques, this hotel offers historic charm and ambience which may appeal to guests who favour a historical element in their accommodations. This hotel is scheduled tol be reopened as The Gilmour Inn in April 2013.

In all 11 rooms at this non-smoking hotel there is free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Most rooms have a private bathroom, but some do have shared bathrooms. Rooms have either a queen or a double bed. Pets are not allowed at this hotel.

There is no on-site restaurant, but guests are offered a complimentary breakfast daily. There are also a wide selection of restaurants within a 5-minute walk. On-site amenities include guest laundry, free parking, and a fireplace in the lobby.

The Canadian Museum of Nature is just over a 5-minute walk south of the hotel.This hotel is just under a 15-minute walk to Parliament Hill. The Byward Market (boutique shops, restaurants, bars and cafes) is just under a 25-minute walk or just under a 10-minute drive away. Guests praised the historic ambience of this hotel, and said that there was a welcoming, cozy atmosphere. Several guests commented on the charm of the Victorian building, which they said enhanced their stay.

Guests said that staff were focused on guest comfort and were consistently warm, pleasant and professional.

This hotel was in good proximity to Sparks Street Mall (10-minute walk), Parliament Hill (15-minute walk) and to a number of downtown restaurants. Guests liked the freedom of being able to access a wide number of shops, restaurants and attractions within a short (15 minutes or less) walk. 

Rooms were clean and comfortable, according to guests. Several guests liked the decor and commented on the antiques in the rooms.
