The GoodThe location of this hotel and the customer service from the staff received the most praise by guests who enjoyed their stay at this property.
The most complimented aspect of this hotel was the friendly service. Guests frequently mentioned that staff were quick to act on requests for additional supplies and were overall very welcoming. One guest mentioned that the breakfast was readily replenished. Another guest said she was impressed with the service she received on New Year's Eve. She stated that the staff provided her and her husband with complimentary New Year's Eve crowns and a free box of chocolates. She was also pleasantly surprised that the complimentary breakfast was served on New Year's Day because she had stayed at other properties that did not provide that service on the holiday.
Most guests seemed happy with the hotel's proximity to downtown Ottawa. A few guests mentioned that, while possible, it was a bit too far to travel on foot. However, most guests found the commute was only a few minutes to downtown by car.
Another common theme among positive reviews was value. Many reviewers felt they had a great stay for the money they paid. One guest mentioned that the free-parking was a value-added feature as not many hotels in that area provide that service.
Also worth noting, many guests found their room to be clean and comfortable.
The Bad
The primary source of guest complaints for this hotel included cleanliness inconsistencies and the overall need for renovations or repairs to the property.
While some guests did say their room was clean and comfortable, many guests found their room to be unclean and not up to the standards they were accustomed to from a Comfort Inn property. Guest reviews described noticing debris on the floor, stains on the in-room couch, a damp and mouldy smell in the room or a cigarette odour, and a couple reviewers found ants in their room. One guest called their room "disgusting". A few guests also encountered problems with getting adequate hot water in the shower or maintaining the in-room temperature.
There were also complaints about the hotel's appearance in general. Many guests found the exterior to look "run-down" and in need of repair. Guests also thought the carpet needed replacing because it was dirty and emitted an odour. A few guests found the overall interior of the hotel unclean.
A few guests said they would not return to this hotel because it did not uphold the Comfort Inn standard. Several guests were unhappy with the Internet reliability, while other reviews thought the price they paid was too expensive for the quality offered.
