The Comfort Inn West hotel is located on the north side of Hearst Way in Kanata, Ontario. The hotel is just to the south of the Trans Canada Highway and a few blocks to the west of Eagleson Road. It's about a 20-30 minute drive to downtown Ottawa depending on traffic from this hotel.

The Ottawa-Macdonald Cartier Airport (YOW) is about 26.7km to the east of the hotel using West Hunt Club Road. Scotiabank Place, the home of the NHL's Ottawa Senators, is about 4.7km to the west of the property (all distances: Google Maps).

Hotel facilities include a fitness centre, free parking for cars or large vehicles, laundry, and meeting space. The pet friendly hotel has 146 guest rooms that include coffee makers, microwaves, irons, ironing boards, desks, hair dryers, and 32" flatscreen televisions with cable. Guests who stay at this hotel also receive free hot breakfast, free high speed Internet, free local calls, and free newspapers.

The Good
Guests who stayed at this hotel wrote very mixed reviews and there was more or less a balance of opinion on several features of the hotel. The guests who had positive things to say about the property usually complimented aspects of the hotel's guest rooms, the hotel's breakfast, and/or the location of the property.

Guests who praised the rooms typically said that they were "clean" while others described them as "comfortable." There were also occasional remarks that specifically said that the beds were comfortable and many guests seemed to think that the rooms were adequately appointed. For example, multiple guests seemed happy to have a flat screen television in their room while another guest liked having both a mini-fridge and a microwave.

Guests who were happy with the hotel's breakfast outnumbered those who were not. Not having to pay extra for the meal seemed to sway some guests as one, for example, called having free breakfast a "bonus." Multiple guests compared the breakfast to those of other hotels they had stayed at and the general opinion was that the Comfort Inn West's breakfast was relatively good.

Guests who expressed their fondness for the location of the hotel were not too numerous. However some guests said that they liked being near the Scotiabank Place. The area of the hotel was also described as "quiet" by a few guests.
The Bad
Many guests had concerns about the property and their stay.

Contrary to the stance of many, some guests complained about the breakfast. These guests typically thought that there was not enough selection. One guest wanted a protein added, one guest wanted cheese added, and another guest said that there was nothing hot provided. Occasionally a guest also said that the breakfast room was small.

Occasionally, guests indicated that they thought that the hotel was getting old. One guest said the property was "dated" while others mentioned their guest rooms and said they needed updating.

A few guests had troubles with noise at the property that was generated by other guests. There were a couple patrons who seemed to be warning future guests about a significant presence of noisy youth groups at the hotel. It seemed that the property was a good location for young sports teams visiting the area.

There was near-balance of opinion regarding the value that guests received for the prices they paid. However it seemed that slightly more guests thought they received moderately poor value for what they paid. A couple guests indicated that they thought the price of their room rate was expensive while others were mild and indicated that they didn't think that the value was the best.

"Absolutely NEVER AGAIN."

"I was hard-pressed to find anything good. My room was right next to the stairwell, which of course in retrospect, I should have refused and requested different location. The noise factor that ensued was insufferable. I called the front desk and was told, 'It will only last a little longer'. Yelling and screaming in the hallways, people running up and down. I asked for them to SPEAK to these clients however no action was taken. The PPV service on the TV was not working. I had asked specifically if the hotel offered this and was assured they did. When I spoke to the front desk about it, I was informed that she couldn't do anything about that, it's a contract to another company, she can 'put in a call and if anyone calls back, maybe they will fix it.' The towels bore an uncanny resemblance to cheese graters, they were actually painful to dry yourself with."

"excellent, clean, friendly staff, beds comfortable, close to Scotia bank place."

"Room was beside the stairwell. Had to listen to the stairwell door open and slam shut all late into the night and early the following morning. If you are given a room by a stairwell, don't expect a good nights sleep."

"When we arrived there was an issue with the room selected, as not being large enough to accommodate our family of 6. The concierge came to our resuce and put us into a 1 room suite which was above and beyond what we expected. We want to thank them for that. That extra little assistance made our stay extremely comfortable and relaxing."

"On walking in, I was immediately greeted by a girl with a name that starts with an "E". She was extremely unpleasant - did not make me feel welcome. Therefore, I hesitated each time I had to ask her a question."

"the breakfast area was nice but the breakfast lacked 1 thing. One young lad drank tea for breakfast because there was no hot chocolate mixes or cartons of milk. His complaint was that this was supposed to be a family hotel but forgot the kids. I brought this to the attention of the desk clerk and I hope that something was done about this."

"The only thing we had trouble with was the wake up calls - or lack there of - for all of the rooms we booked"
