This hotel is just west of the Rideau canal and an 8 minute walk north on Elgin Street will bring guests to the National Arts Centre which features orchestra, ballet, opera, and theatre performances. Also north on Elgin Street are the Parliament buildings (18 minute walk from the hotel). This hotel is also central to attractions on the east side of the Rideau Canal. The Rideau Centre (shopping mall), Ottawa Conference Centre and the Byward Market (all-season farmer's market, boutiques, and restaurants) is an 11 minute walk via the Laurier Bridge (walking time estimates: Google Maps).

Many guests found this hotel centrally located and within walking distance to downtown attractions, boutique shopping on Elgin Street, pubs, and restaurants. One reviewer described the location as "pedestrian friendly".
The in-suite kitchen with full-sized appliances was complimented by many guests as a way to keep their travel costs down. Several reviewers also mentioned being impressed that the kitchens included a dishwasher. Guests also agreed that the rooms were clean and spacious. A few reviews described the configuration of the suites as having separate living spaces and feeling more like an apartment than a hotel room. One reviewer described his suite as having, "all the comforts of home".
The customer service at this hotel was praised by several guests, with a few reviewers specifically mentioning that the check-in and check-out processes were efficient. Several reviewers also found the pool and play areas to be value added features for children.
The Bad
There were not many negative reviews found for this hotel (of those used for this analysis).
However, many guests did agree that the decor and furniture was beginning to look dated. A couple of other reviewers specifically mentioned that the kitchen appliances and fitness facility equipment appeared to be old. Other guests noted that the bathroom fixtures were in need of updating and one reviewer was surprised that this hotel used key locks instead of electronic key-cards.
Several reviewers complained about the parking facility. A few guests found the entrance difficult to locate, while a couple of other guests found the layout confusing. A few reviewers also stated that the fees were expensive.
