"The Oshawa Holiday Inn is quite old. The rooms have been re-done and were clean, good room service. The hotel is situated on the East end of Oshawa on 401 and one has to drive to all the stores, restaurants etc for at least 10-15 minutes.
But this hotel has a good restaurant and several conference rooms, so it is self contained.
Since Oshawa does not have many hotels like this, it can ask the for the high rates which I would not pay otherwise, being so far away from the city core."

A short drive outside downtown Oshawa, Ontario the Holiday Inn Oshawa welcomes visitors with its many guest services. Guests receive a complimentary continental breakfast Monday-Friday mornings. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Harper's Restaurant and Lounge serves hearty regional fare and a popular Sunday Brunch. Kids 12 and under eat free with paying adults. Room service is available daily from 7am-11pm. Harper's Lounge offers a full service bar and a place to watch your favorite sporting events in a casual, lively setting.
For added convenience, the hotel offers a multilingual staff, babysitting (advance notice required), safe deposit boxes, a cash machine, wake-up calls, complimentary parking, nine meeting rooms, secretarial and business services, catering, and laundry services. For pint-sized travelers, the hotel has a playground, video arcade, and sport court for basketball or hockey. The hotel is convenient to I-401, about seven miles inland from Lake Ontario, and 45 miles from Toronto.
There are 194 rooms, including two suites, on seven floors. Two Executive floors offer rooms with upgraded amenities. Non-smoking rooms and three wheelchair-accessible rooms are available upon request. Guests may request one rollaway bed per room. There is a 15 charge for rollaway beds in double rooms. Pool views are available. Standard amenities include bathrobes, dataport telephone, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, and coffeemaker.
