"The younger, male bell boy w/ a 9 yr. old boy and a one year old child, was SUPERIOR / EXCELLENT! ABSOULTELY Super attitude and friendliness. We enjoyed getting to visit w/ him a bit.

"Room 229 was not cleaned one of the days we were there... There were no fresh towels and the beds were not made. The second floor had a leak by the ice machine and the Ice machine door was open and water was splashing into the ice, not sanatary at all."

"This was our second stay at the Oakes in the last 13 months.
We find ourselves at home - rooms are nice, comfortable and with an excellent view. We always take 2 rooms with the inside connecting door which helps to keep the family together.
Need to improve on the lighting inside the rooms and the pillows which are not very comfortable.
GREAT HOTEL ... WE WILL CONTINUE TO VISIT ."

"The hotel has a lot of potential, but the older portion of the hotel needs some renovation. There seems to be some benefit to holding onto theis portion, but I think it needs to improved. Should hold onto the value for competitive reasons."

"The hotel was in a convenient location to the falls. The hotel was a little older and seemed like a motel with hotel prices. Our stay was over Labor Day weekend, so the prices were probably higher. This was the best deal for a hotel weekend stay. The staff was nice and courteous. Our room was cleaned nicely."

"We checked in on a Monday afternoon, left on Thursday morning. We had NO maid service the entire time, even though a "Maid Service Please" card was left on the door for over 6 hours, and when we stepped out in the a.m. the maid cart was 3 doors down the hall! When we mentioned it to the front desk, we were told to tell them when we left again and they would send someone up. Since we didn't leave until 4, and it was our last night, we didn't bother.
Air conditioner was either cold or off. We could not get cold water out of the sink, only lukewarm (for a quick drink without having to go for ice). Wallpaper in many halls peeling or scratched up. Pool area seemed freshly painted, but towels they provided were only about twice the size of a hand towel, if that.
Unrelated to the hotel, but important for guests to be aware: dining and beverages in this area are unreasonably expensive! (TGI Fridays, next door: 1 pasta dinner, 2 soups, 1 chicken wings appetizer, and 3 smoothies = $75!) One restaurant told us they only had bottled water (couldn't get a glass with meal) and it was $2.50."
