OverviewMichael’s Inn by the Falls is located on the west side of River Road and north of Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Facilities at the non-pet friendly hotel include parking ($10/night), a business centre, and an elevator. Leisure facilities at the property include an arcade, an indoor pool, a children’s pool, a sauna, a fitness centre, and a restaurant (breakfast extra).
There are 130 guest rooms at the four-story property and common amenities include over-sized tubs, desks, irons, ironing boards, in-room safes, air conditioning, and hair dryers. Additionally, rooms include free local calls and free wireless Internet. There are some refrigerators at the hotel however they are only provided on request and subject to availability.
Room types at the hotel include City View Rooms, River View Rooms, and suites. The City View/River View rooms come with either two queen beds or one king. Suites at the hotel include Family Suites with three double or queen sized beds, Jacuzzi suites with one king or one queen bed, and Junior Presidential Suites with one king.
The hotel is situated about 500m from the Casino Niagara while the Clifton Hill tourist promenade is about 650m away (Google Maps). Public viewpoints of the waterfalls are at about the same distance.

The GoodGuests that stayed at this hotel seemed fairly happy with the property although opinions were somewhat mixed. The guests that approved of the hotel often indicated that they liked the pool, the price of their room rates, and the location of the property.
In regard to the pool, guest approval was quite high. One guest, for example, said that the “pool/hot tub area seemed well appreciated by families” and many guests that were parents mentioned that their children enjoy the pool facilities. One patron who was particularly adamant said that “the pool and hot tub (were) as good or better” than the pools or hot tubs of “any other hotel in the area.”
Several guests said that this hotel was good for travelers who were on a budget. One guest who was a repeat customer at the hotel said that he/she was “always pleased with the room rates” and the sentiment was quite common in reviews. The location of the hotel was generally well-liked. Multiple guests indicated that it was close to Casino Niagara, Clifton Hill, and or viewpoints of the waterfalls.
The Bad
Some guests that stayed at this property did not totally enjoy their stay and patrons often complained about parking, their perceived age of the hotel, and the views from their rooms.
In regard to the parking, many guests were simply unhappy that it was not included in their room rates. It seemed that the guests that were most upset with the parking fee were guests that were surprised or unprepared for it. One guest, for example, said that he/she had two bookings and that they “were hit with a parking fee on checkout.”
There were also several guests that felt as if the hotel was aging. Some guests called the property “dated” while others said it was “tired” looking. One guest who was a little more blunt said the “establishment” was a “a dump” although guests were not typically this assertive in communicating their opinion about the age of the hotel.
Lastly, some guests mentioned that the views from their rooms were nothing special and multiple guests indicated that they overlooked nothing more than a brick wall.
Expedia.ca guest ratings averaged to 3.9 points out of 5 and 84% of guests recommended the property. TripAdvisor.com ranked the hotel 41st of 137 hotels and the site had 306 reviews. Hotels.com guest ratings averaged to 3.7 points out of 5 and the site had 418 reviews.

"I stayed in room 111. When I told the front desk I could not get Internet in my room they suggested I try it in the lobby. My coffee maker did not work but sine your front desk staff really dudnt care or apologize for the internet not working I did not even bother telling them about the coffee maker. Your rooms look old and your balconies are delapitated and could use some work. They need to leave 1987 and be brought up to date. Very dissappointed with the stay."

"For the money i spent, i expected better. The room was terribly small (Deluxe w/jetted tub). The place appeared not to be very busy, but i was put on the first floor. My "Falls view" was actually a view of the Rainbow bridge. The roadway noise (cars & motorcycles) was terribly loud. The tv channels were all fuzzy, the room smelled like grandma's house and the paint matched the smell of the room (pale green). The wireless internet that was suppose to work thru-out the Inn did not work in my room. Which im kinda glad now because they charge you for it. Why have it if your not going to offer it for free, specially after the money the room cost per night? I will not be going back to Niagara Falls again anytime soon, but if I would, I will not be staying at the Aston Michaels Inn by the Falls."

"The room was tastefully decorated in a cheerful, French country style. It was just delightful! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were glad to be so close to everything yet far enough away to enjoy the silence of the gorge. We could also peer over our balcony and see the falls from our room. It was a great deal for the price."

"Hotel a bit run down ... huge potential with a renovation to take it more upmarket. Pool area poor ... and sun area onto main road ... must be joking. Staff reasonably helpful. Food in restaurant below average.
I was charged for the two nights on Visa ($350), then refunded, then charged two days later including meals & bar. Not a problem, but the fact that the Visa was charged at my home currency (), at a different exchange rate for the refund ... effectively losing me about 10.
Really good location, which you could make more of, and a number of the areas above could be improved .... but the investment may be difficult to justify. We enjoyed our stay, but largely used the hotel as a base."

"We had a great time on our trip. The hotel was wonderful and the staff
was so friendly. We arrived early and the staff was very helpful in getting us into a room as quickly as possible. We also stayed over Easter weekend and the hotel had a terrific chocolate bunny giveaway. The kids loved it."

"This hotel was highly affordable and gave great value for money. It adverises a Falls View which it really does not have.... more river than Falls. That said, it is a very short and pleasant walk indeed along the river to all the main sights and sites. We observed the restraunt staff carefully and noted them to be just about the most genuinely friendly and helpful to customers we had met on a very long New England/Canada tour using motels and some much higher priced hotels. Lovely people. Highly recommend and very good value."

"The sink is not working properly. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The heating system is very noisy. We ended up close the heating system although it was quite cold outside. There is no minibar in the room."

"My room smelt of cigarettes, not sure if it was previously a smoking room. My shower was not great, temperature was very tempremental.It was great to have a pool, i enjoyed a relaxing swim after a busy day at the falls.The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall i had a great stay! Thank you."
