OverviewThe Howard Johnson Hotel by the Falls is located on the north side of Victoria Avenue to the south of Magdalen Street. The hotel is close to several tourist attractions as Casino Niagara, viewpoints of the falls, the Clifton Hill Promenade, and the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum are all within 1km of the hotel (Google Maps).
Hotel facilities include an indoor heated pool with a waterslide, an outdoor seasonal pool, a hot tub, a sauna, and a fitness centre. Additional amenities include an on-site restaurant (Denny's), on-site self parking ($8/day/vehicle), an arcade room, three elevators, and guest laundry.
The pet friendly and non-smoking hotel is seven floors high with 198 guest rooms or suites. Common room amenities include free wireless Internet, coffee makers, irons, ironing boards, hairdryers, safes, and 27" televisions. Fridges, microwaves, and cots are available upon request and each cost $10 per day. Some of the guest rooms also have balconies.

The price of the hotel was often described as budget friendly or as having good value. Many guests thought that their room was sufficient or right for the price and one guest, for example, said his party picked the Howard Johnson "mainly because it was the most affordable."
Several guests also thought that the hotel's location was tough to beat. Many guests indicated that they could walk to everything that they wanted to be close to. That included Clifton Hill, restaurants, and the falls. As one guest put it: "Seriously, everything is within walking distance.”
Guests who commented on their room generally seemed satisfied. They typically thought that their rooms were clean however some also said that they were large, spacious, or comfortable.
Less frequently, guests said good things about the pool. Parents liked it for their kids or guests indicated that they liked the waterslide.
The Bad
While the hotel did not receive a ton of complaints there were some areas that stood out a little bit.
Multiple guests said that they would have liked to have had a fridge or microwave in their room without the extra charge that was levied. Some guests also said that the Internet didn't work at all or that it didn't work well during their stay.
However the most frequent complaint that guests issued had to do with the parking situation at the hotel. Numerous guests wished that parking was included with their stay instead of costing an extra $8 nightly charge. One guest said "it sucked to have to pay for parking" and another guest said that there was not much space.

Priceline.com guest ratings averaged to 7.5 points out of 10 and the hotel ranked 18th out of 118 Niagara Falls properties.
