The Magnuson Hotel Niagara Falls (formerly Days Inn Niagara Falls North of the Falls) is located on River Road in Niagara Falls, Ontario, a couple blocks to the north of Bridge Street. The hotel is very close to the Canadian-American border with the Bridge Street crossing less than 1km away and the Niagara Falls rail station of a similar distance.more
This hotel is a little to the north of the tourist zone in Niagara Falls. However, the office for the Maid of the Mist tours, for example, is still just 3.2km away and easily accessible by River Road (distances: Google Maps).
Amenities at the property include a sauna, a spa tub, a bar/lounge, a restaurant that serves all three meals of the day, and an indoor swimming pool. The property is four stories high and does not have an elevator.
There are 94 guest rooms at the hotel and they come with cable television, air conditioning, free local calls, hair dryers, and free wireless Internet. Check in time at the hotel is at 3pm while check out time is at 11am.
Many guests who stayed at this hotel were unhappy with their stay. However the Days Inn Niagara Falls North of the Falls still had a couple strengths that guests frequently expressed in their reviews. Many guests liked their rooms and/or they liked the room rate they received.
Guests who liked their rooms typically complimented one of two things: they liked the gas fireplace or they liked the comfortable bed.
Guests who commented on the price they paid for the room almost always implied that they were happy with what they paid. Many guests said they received good value for the price or that the hotel offered the best rate that they could find in the area.
Guest concerns for this hotel far outweighed guest compliments as many patrons made negative statements about the property. Frequently guests described the hotel as old or dirty while the staff were occasionally described as indifferent to guest concerns.
Several guests, whether commenting on the hotel as a whole or the rooms in particular, said or implied that the property did not meet their expectations for cleanliness. Some guests said that they found hairs in their bed while a couple other guests said they found food under their beds. The property seemed old or "dated" to some guests and many felt that the hotel needed updating.
The amenities at the hotel failed to impress several guests as well. Many guests disliked the pool for being cold while a couple guests said it was simply closed. The sauna at the hotel fared not much better in reviews as multiple guests said it was not heated when they tried it.
A few guests who wanted to take advantage of the free Internet were disappointed to learn that the hotel's signal did not actually make it to their rooms.
Some guests who voiced their concerns to staff were met with little help. Multiple guests mentioned the manager in their reviews and seemed to think that he/she was unresponsive to their concerns.
