Overview
The Knights Inn in London, Ontario is a newly-renovated (2012) motel-style property with drive-up access to the rooms, situated on a commercial strip about halfway between the downtown core and the airport (about an 8-minute drive both ways). It's located about a 3-minute drive to Fanshawe College and about 12 minutes to the University of Western Ontario making it an ideal stopover hotel from the colleges to the airport.

This hotel offers both smoking and non-smoking rooms and each room offers a 32" LCD TV with all major cable channels, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a clock, a phone and air conditioning. Hairdryers and iron and ironing board are available upon request. Upgraded rooms have a hot tub. The motel has a variety of room configurations that feature 2 double beds, 2 queen beds, 1 king bed or 1 queen bed. Adjoining rooms are also available.

Free amenities include Wi-Fi in all areas, a basic continental breakfast (tea, coffee, juice, bagels, cold cereal), free parking, free local calls and free newspapers.

The hotel is pet-friendly and allows dogs only for $10 per pet, per night.

Hotel amenities include a 24-hour front desk, business/fax service, coin laundry, ice machine, vending machine, and a playground.

Some nearby area attractions are East Park Intensity and Water World (mini-golf, water park, bumper cars, and the Intake Grill restaurant) which is about a 7-minute drive away and the London Regional Children's Museum which is located about a 10-minute drive away. The Fanshawe Pioneer Village, featuring 30 original and historical replicas of buildings on 46 acres of land, is about a 9-minute drive from the hotel. (All travel times were estimated using Google Maps).

The Good
Most guests who reviewed the Knights Inn seemed to have enjoyed their stay and gave many compliments to the staff, location, cleanliness and price of the hotel, in recent online reviews consulted for this editorial.

Many guests said their rooms were very clean and comfortable. Some guests specifically mentioned that they had comfortable beds in rooms that were surprisingly quiet, although near to a busy street. A few reviewers appreciated having lots of hot water, good shower pressure and soft towels. One guest specifically noted that the hotel provided what she considered to be good quality shampoo, which was not cheap and the same brand she used at home.

Several guests said they were pleased with the modest continental breakfast of bagels, cold cereal, tea and coffee

Guests found the staff to be very friendly, providing quick and easy check ins and check outs.

Many reviewers commented positively on the location of the hotel saying it was centrally located and close to a Tim Hortons, restaurants and shopping, St. Joseph's and the Victoria hospitals.

Guests thought the in-room mini-fridges and microwaves added value to their rooms.

The Bad
As is usual in online reviews, guests offered some criticism and negative feedback regarding the hotel and it's service.

The most common subject of criticism was the continental breakfast. Some guests were displeased that there was such a small choice of items for the morning offering at the hotel, and one person said that it ended early.

A few guests also complained that they had trouble accessing the free Wi-Fi. It seems like the issue for some of these guests surrounded miscommunication regarding the passwords needed.

Other isolated complaints were: flat pillows, no in-room coffee maker, hot tub had loose faucets and it took 40 minutes to fill the tub.
Booking.com average guest ratings were 7.1 out of 10 points from 124 reviews.

TripAdvisor.com Guest ratings averaged 3.5 out of 5 points based on 67 reviews and 65% of guests recommended the hotel.

"Good Place for a few days"
"The location is great and the service was very good. Good place to stay for a couple of days. It is also central to many places and away from the downtown noise."

"Feeling Like a Family Member"
"On arrival to the Knight's Inn London Airport I was famished form a long day. I was greeted very warmly and asked for my name. A document was produced with all my information and the delicious aroma of a home meal cooking in the background made me feel welcome. I requested some information about best places to have dinner and was given options and directions. I was even offered some home cooked food that was going to be ready in 45 minutes! I smiled sweetly at the hospitality and knew that I would sleep peacefully in my comfy bed as I felt at home. The room was clean, I had shampoos, soap,a shower cap and fresh white towels waiting for me. A fridge to place my produce from the Farmer's Market and a comfy bed to sleep in. I would stay here again when visiting London."

"Surprising"
"Flat screen wall mounted tv was a great surprise, especially for such a cheap room. Microwave and mini fridge were great too. One thing that was missing was a hair dryer, which we didn't know wasn't included. Location was 8 minutes from the London convention centre and $80 cheaper than hotels next to the centre. Would stay there again"

"A garbage bag was left in the room from the chambermaid. Condoms were in the bedside drawer (I have young kids that don't need to see that) Mattress sheets don't stay in place & by morning your sleeping on the mattress itself. Chairs were badly stained & disgusting looking. Walls were dirty & needed a paint job. Two TV's in each room & one remote that didn't work for either one & one TV only had 12 channels that would work. I thought the price was cheap for the room I got, but thats no excuse for the shape of the room. Bathroom sink was falling off the wall. No tub just a shower. Water in shower was constantly changing temperature from too cold to too hot."

"As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. We choose this motel because of its proximity to the airport which was a $12 cab ride. The man at reception was friendly. The room was sub standard at best. The smell was unbareable. The bed very uncomfortable. The bathroom had hair on the floor. The cable tv was nice. And the wall had a painted scene of a waterfall, mountains and a blue sky. All that and the room still stunk BAD!"

"they advertise that they have "high speed wireless internet" during my complete 4 day stay i was NEVER able to get a conection i was continualy informed that either their network was down or they told me that it must be my end but my wireless server kept telling me that the netwerk was low to non exsistant so if you need to be able to acesse the internet while at this hotel stay away otherwise the service was decent the rooms were not to bad but not great cleaning was done and they really need to paint their walls not liking the fact that it loooked like i was sleeping in a fish tank"

"The room was dirty and had a nasty smell. The second night that we stayed there I dropped something in between the bed and the little nightstand, and when I went to pick it up there were toe nail clippings on the floor. None of us there had clipped our toenails at all. Our room was not cleaned the entire three days we were there. Yes, we may have not gotten out of the room until later in the afternoon, but I have never stayed in a hotel that hasn't cleaned my room for an entire 3 days. The hotel staff, the night we got there, was very friendly, and the cleaning ladies were nice also. But when we checked out the guy was not nice at all. Also the blinds in the room were broken, as in, the slats were all bent and broken. I guess for the price it was okay. But if it were a litte cleaner, I think they would get more business. It wasn't too far away from downtown London and there were a lot of restuarants and retail business' near us. So that was conveninent. We also had a Tim Horton's right next to us, which has good products."

"There was a certain odor in the room and there were blood stains on the pillow. There was no Tissue paper in the room. Although the outside of the motel was well kept and the room looked clean, the washroom did not have a plug for the tub, the sink did not have a plug and the finishing throughout the room and especially the bathroom was done by somebody who didn't know what they were doing. For the close to $90.00 I paid, I would expect better. This room should have been worth $30--$40."
