"Decent room for the money"

"The customer service was excellent. The gentleman that checked us in was pleasant and helpful. We had to change rooms because the first room must have been right under the generator or some sort of machinery on the roof. It made a loud buzzing noise that was hard on the ears. I requested the change and within a few minutes we were in another room with apologies. The checkout was also smooth and professional. The room was nice. Though a bit dusty in places everything was in working order. I liked the fact that the floors were wooden. It seemed cleaner then carpet. The bathroom was clean though very small. It caused the only problem that we had with the room. The bathroom didn't have a fan so when we showered we left the door open. The heat from the shower set the smoke alarm off. Even opening the door after the shower set off the alarm. Some flapping of a towel stopped it. More annoying then anything. Installing a fan would fix it. Some shears on the window would have been nice. The curtains could be pulled back for sunlight while still maintaing some privacy. Overall for the money we were satisfied with the room and would stay there again."

"Clean and comfortable"

"Had an unexpected stay at the Super 8 on Princess St. It was convenient, comfortable and clean. There was a space heater so the room was relatively warm since it was still pretty cold outside. Lots of clean towels and free parking."

"Marc Goneau"

"The size of the bed was great, but not the size of the room of bathroom. The location was very accessible to downtown. Thanks!"

It was the clean, safe and accessible. The staff was friendly and always available. Great value. Recommended for the budget conscience."

"Take my advice"

"I have stayed at other Super 8's and they were at least clean, this one is in a bad neighborhood, the upkeep is poor, the rooms are small and the bathrooms are so tiny you can barely turn around in them, the maid service does an extremely poor job of cleaning. Just a terrible place to stay...never again."

"Rude staff"

"staff is very rude, Will avoid all super 8's now because of a couple rude staff at this location."

"not so good"

"1) Didnt like how the they had feather duvet covers when I specifical request none when I booked online.. I have brething difficulties ! 2) Didnt like to portable heat that was making a clicking sound troughout the night ! 3) Rooms are not very sound proof... Heard loud and clear people walking in the halls at 3 am and then again at 7 am... Very bad time trying to sleep"

"Excellent geographical location - near the universtiy and downtown. The bed was clean and comfortable and for $75 a night for one night, it served the purpose. The room had not been vacuumed (laminate flooring) and the bathroom was so bad that I didn't even take a shower and I was hesitant to use the toilet. The towels were frayed. The corridors have low ceilings and you feel like you are underground. It's just dirty. Continental breakfast? I didn't take a chance. It looked pretty bad."

"Was only there for the night, staying for an interview. It was a very affordable and I definitely recommend it to other people having a short stay in Kingston."

"The walls must be paper thin because I clearly heard everyone outside my room in the halls - into the wee hours of the night. One night another patron came to my door at 4am knocking (and soon pounding) on the door. When I told him he had the wrong room he wouldn't believe me at first."

"I am an experienced traveller, having toured in 97 countries, including many developing and least-developed countries. I am very easy to please, but this motel was unacceptably poor. I recently stayed in far superior accommodations in non-tourist destinations like Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia. My room was not much more than dorm-style (in and of itself, not a problem, as I am travelling solo this time),the carpet was stained, the sheets were thin, I had only one bath size towel, no hand towel, no face cloth and the bath mat was folded and presented in such a way as to hide the stains that were revealed at unfolding. The ground floor window was, I felt, unsecure to the point that I slept without the noise of air conditioning in order to be alert in case of an attempted break in. When I was ready to check out, I got to the reception desk and there was no one there. I rang the little bell numerous times and another hotel guest drew my attention to a sign that said "back in 5 minutes". I loaded my car and returned, but still no one. I waited 10 minutes and finally left the key card on the counter with a written note. The corridors smelled musty and I heard air freshener being sprayed up and down outside my room. There was a silverfish in the bathtub, which was covered in soap scum. If I hadn't already paid for the room, I definitely would have deemed it unacceptable and moved to another place. The entire building should be razed and something new built in its place."

"Basic no-frills motel, not a lot of amenities, but very clean, seems well kept up. No-smoking room really was (no smoke odour). Comfortable bed. TV worked. Shower worked. What else do you need for a short stay?"

2 out of 10 | Dennis stayed April 29, 2006

"I stayed in two different rooms, double and single. The washroom in the double was too small. One can barely turn around and I am not a big person. The washroom in the single was slightly bigger but in poor condition(tub caulk was mouldy and peeling). In the single room the walls were dirty, lighting was poor, the TV reception was also poor and the remote was broken. The air conditioner was so loud on low speed that one could not sleep. In both rooms the heat could not be controlled. There was a lack of shampoo and soap in both rooms and the single room only had a very thin bath towel in it. I will never stay there again."

"Even thought my room was designated "non-smoking," it was across the hall from "smoking" rooms, meaning that the halls smelled strongly of cigarette smoke."

7 out of 10 | Jacques stayed March 05, 2006

"bring your own pillows hard as a rock hotel was good other patrons weren't loud and running in the halls at all hours of the night used this hotel for what we needed a place to bathe and lay your head spent most of the day away from it"

"Had nothing bad to say about the place, the staff was nice and the area was convienent (being on Princess St. which is one of the main streets in Kingston). Nice place overall."

"No hot water for showers in morning. Sink nearly plugged - water went down, but so slowly we had to wait to rinse our toothbrushes. Bathroom so small it felt like a broom closet. Pillows terrible - we had to go out and buy some. WHen we reported problems, all we got was "thank you for telling us" - no apology even. By the way, CAROLE CHAMBERLIN reserved and signed for room .. NOT JOHN CHAMBERLIN - check your facts if you're going to send people surveys!!!"

"Not enough towels. Only 1 big one for 2 people. Too hot! could not sleep so opened window. Then, way too noisey!"

8 out of 10 | Herbert stayed August 30, 2004

"Small point, but my wife wanted to take a bath rather than shower. The drain plug didn't work. Perhaps they are non-functional intentionally, but it was a little inconvenient plugging the drain with a wash cloth. Otherwise, we wanted a clean place to rest for a night. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Thanks."

4 out of 10 | Alexander stayed August 22, 2004

"The rooms were very small. Some sockets in the room didnt work. Wall paper was peelings off in some locations. The view out of the window showed lots of broken glass and debris on the outside roof. parking for larger vehicles (pick up trucks) was difficult. Staff was decent and very friendly. Security was a concern, as fire exit was open all night. Revellers at 3;30am were not controlled and a guest eventually had to shut down the party. All in all, not a great experience, this hotel needs some major work on its infrastructure. It seems like no money is being spent to keep the facility up to snuff."

8 out of 10 | Alex stayed February 18, 2004

"I would recommend but only as a good value for a short time spent. Room was small, bathroom was clean but very small. No shampoo supplied, only soap. Ice machine was out of order on arrival and was still out of order the next day. Rooms are located as such to provide good resistance to traffic noise which made it very quiet. It is located within blocks of downtown stores and shopping malls and makes walking a possible option but only in good weather but not practical for carrying goods any distance from the malls etc."

4 out of 10 | Verified Guest stayed January 31, 2004

"The power in our rooms kept on going off. It went off at night when temperature was -20 celcius. We were asleep and it was freezing. The heating needs improvement. The bed sheets have some kind of static problem. We kept on experiencing sparks under the cover. Parking space was hard to find. Need more organize parking arrangements."
