Overview
First Canada Inns in Kingston, Ontario is a relatively cheap accommodation compared to other hotels in the area. Guests typically chose the property for the convenience of the location and ease of access just of highway 401. However, there were a range of both praises and complaints on the same aspects of the hotel which may lead to some inconsistencies in service and quality. Average guest ratings were just under 7 out of 10 points (on 10 point scales) and roughly 3.5 out of 5 points (on 5 point scales).
The GoodCustomer service was consistently praised across multiple review sources used for this analysis. It was especially remarkable as many that actually complained about the hotel made a point of stating the customer service was still a high point. Good value for money was a common statement from many as the price is relatively low compared to other hotels in the area. The convenient location just off highway 401 made it easy to find. A few reviewers on Booking.com appreciated the complimentary breakfast, however it appeared only these reviewers generally liked the breakfast (there were many complaints about the breakfast from all other sources used). Finally, a few reviewers mentioned that while the rooms were dated they were clean and comfortable (however, it is important to note that a good number of reviewers on TripAdvisor.com said the opposite and claimed cleanliness was not consistent and up to par with other hotels).
The Bad
The complaints about this property were consistent across all sources used, however many appeared to contradict the praises. It was apparent this hotel had some problems with consistency of service and quality. Many reviewers complained the complimentary breakfast was too basic and not worth eating. In fact, numerous guests mentioned the breakfast area did not seem clean and was actually served on top of a pool table. The hotel was said to be dated and in need of some major upgrades. According to a handful of reviewers the hotel still used old metal keys which were clumsy, instead of the standard room card keys found at many modern properties.
