Overview
Situated outside the downtown area, this hotel is located right off Highway 17 and near Kenora Bay. The location may appeal to tourists participating in nearby recreational activities (hunting or fishing) or to travellers that are just passing through Kenora.

With 51 rooms over 2 floors, this hotel offers free Wi-Fi and parking. Large vehicle parking is available for trailers and RVs. There is an indoor pool, hot tub, water slide, fitness centre, meeting and conference rooms. Pets are welcome in drive up rooms only and can be accommodated free of charge.

The on-site restaurant, Forest Restaurant, operates Monday to Sunday from 6 am to 9 pm. It offers English cuisine and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is available daily from 6 am to 10 pm. The Capricorn Lounge is open daily from 11 am to 12 am and offers a full menu.

Each air-conditioned room comes furnished with a flat screen TV, a microwave, a mini-fridge, an iron and ironing board, an alarm clock, and a telephone. Local calls are free, wake up calls are available and cribs can be provided upon request. Rooms are furnished with 1 or 2 queen beds, 1 king bed or 1 king bed and 1 sofabed.

Several fast food restaurants are within a 5-minute walk from the hotel. There are several hunting and fishing shops within a 1-minute drive, as well as boat rental. The Good
The positive reviews outweighed the negative reviews used for this analysis. Reviewers complimented the cleanliness of the rooms, praised the staff and enjoyed the indoor pool and water slide.

Many guests praised the neatness of the rooms. The rooms were described as clean and cozy.

Several reviewers commended the staff for providing great service and described them as friendly and personable. However, there were mixed reviews and opposing opinions (see below).

Some guests enjoyed the indoor pool and water slide. A couple reviewers mentioned how their kids enjoyed the baby pool and colourful mural near the pool area. 

A few guests felt the location was convenient to downtown and fast food restaurants.

The Bad
Although the positive reviews outnumbered the negative reviews, there were some common concerns. Guests felt the hotel was dated, were not impressed with the beds and felt the staff were unprofessional.

The biggest criticism was that the hotel looked outdated, old and a "bit seedy". Many guests felt the hotel needed updating and more maintenance. 

The reviews regarding staff were mainly positive but there were a few guests who felt the staff were unprofessional.

A couple guests felt the beds were uncomfortable. 

There were a few reviewers who did not like the surrounding area of the hotel and felt the bar/lounge smoking area could have been in a more appropriate place, away from the front entrance and front desk of the hotel.
